Nice picture of Ron and his wife. Just did a quick Google search and came up with this article about the two of them.

They're coaches, so they recognize how to keep it fresh, innovative and the positive vibes flowing.

Coaches Stephanie and Ron Rivera, married for 25 years, even posses a scheme to keep that loving spark flickering. It's their weekly Friday date nights, and can you imagine the sweet nothings Ron whispers in her ear?

"Hey, ref, you are missing a good game!'' Ron said one recent evening.

Ron, the Chargers' defensive coordinator, could be named the Carolina Panthers head coach as soon as Tuesday. But on this Friday night, he was filming Stephanie's Cathedral Catholic girls basketball team.

Before Stephanie located the mute button, Ron's work arrived with lively commentary.

"He's helped me out a couple of times doing that,'' Stephanie said. "But he gets too nervous. I had to turn the volume down because he was yelling at the officials.''

It's a hoot that Ron and Stephanie spend Friday nights together, but not in dimly light restaurants, bathed in romantic background music. High school gyms play host to these lovebirds.

"Date night has become, 'Hey, come watch my girls play,' " Stephanie said.

With Ron's season over, Stephanie's year is gathering steam. Her Dons (7-5, 1-0) face Scripps Ranch on Tuesday night while Ron faces the music.

He's no longer the top coach at the Rivera household, with the Chargers done and Cathedral Catholic in league play.

"We used to go out to dinner,'' Ron said. "Now I'm sitting in the stands.''

    • Names I'd keep an eye on... Coby White,  Jalen Suggs, Amen Thompson  and Stephen Castle...  3 teams except Orlando has checked on Melo before and rumblings of sours getting rid of fox too. I'd think they think Melo and Wemby would make them nuclear out west.
    • Well he somehow had 12 preseason carries for not playing. He also has 20 carries in the regular season, not three. He has actually played in about 7% of the offensive snaps for this regular season(33% of the special teams snaps). This isn't stuff you have to make up, these are very easily referenced statistics, man.
    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
