Fowler picks Panthers in an upset

....Hope Cam returns to chucking the ball which I think will eventually pay off for us. The new run game is dumping off to the backs in the flats but for some reason Cam is reluctent to hit Dwill when hes been wide open and chosing to force the ball a bit down field. I at least have the feeling we can win any game when this group steps on the field. It would be sweet if we can pull this one off and for once Fowler would look like a genius...

I'm hoping the week 1 & 2 Cam shows up if we can drop 400 yds on the Bears, I see us taking the win.

I'm hoping we get to see more of week 3 Cam.

No interceptions will go a long way to getting a key road win.

:grouphug:

And of course it will be an upset. There are very few perfect teams in the NFL (see Patriots last week) and the bears have their flaws but they are at home with a savvy veteran qb and an equally savvy veteran defense.

I do believe the pundits and bear fans are overlooking this matchup so good on Fowler.

Bears are 1-2 and have more problems than we do right now, I don't see how they could overlook any match up. They're already 3rd in their division and will have to fight and claw to even get a WC, which I don't think they get.

I'm reading between the lines of the comments from Urlacher, Cutler and Peppers and they seem to be marking this one in the win columnn.

Brian Baldinger sheepishly picking us for the upset makes him the laughing stock of the pick segment.

Bears boards and user comments are 10:1 or more in predicting the bears will roll.

Hey, I think the Panthers will win too. I am just of the opinion it will be widely considered an upset.

I'm not disagreeing with you or your opinion. I just don't understand where their supreme confidence comes from. They have a soft, wildcard at QB, a terrible OL and no legit receivers. The D is good, but has holes especially in the secondary. So they won their division last year- what's that mean right now? Ask the Falcons.

I hope they come into the game cocky and get punched in the mouth.

agreed in spades.

I think a lot of the (false) confidence stems from fact that they are a big market team and it always seems to take a quarter of a season or more for those guys to come back to earth.

They claim their record is due to tough matchup's but the league has a funny way of proving those scores out. Saints and Packers are going to give up points all year long and their offense still couldn't answer the bell. So their win at home over the struggling falcons is their only stanglehold on confidence.

I don't think it will take much at all to welcome them to the reality of a 32 team league.

I applaud you :thumbsup:for taking on those guys over at the Bears message board. Way to fight for :cam: and your team.

THis game will swing on defense and special teams. On the surface, the Bears are better in both areas. It will take the Panthers having a very good effort containing their special teams squad, avoiding fumbles and turnovers while creating some of our own to win today. It won't be easy to beat anyone on the road let alone the Bears. The good news?? We aren't playing in Chicago in December.

If the Panthers win today it will be an upset and a huge win for us which is not expected and surely wasn't before the year began.

Can we do it? Absolutely! Will it be easy. Not at all. It will swing on 3 or 4 plays today. Hopefully we make those plays instead of them.

the main thing carolina has going for them is that they always play good on the road.

You mean like last year where we were 0-8 or this year where we are 0-1. Of course any comparison between future success and past performance would include results with different coaches and different players which makes a comparison between now and the past totally irrelevant.

never mind all that though.........................
