Jeff King Signs

His tender is already counting agaisnt the cap just like Peppers. King signing chances nothing.

I'm glad he's back. He was apart of the running game's success and can pass block as well when needed. No, he's not that great of a reciever but right now I don't think I would trade in his blocking for recieving. What he is asked to do in the recieving game, be a big target for 1st down and in the red zone, he seems to be good at.

I'm surprise there are still a few here on the Huddle that understand the rules.

Yea I agree, How long did some of us try to tell other people in the peppers tagged thread and in the millions of other threads on that topic before he was tagged that once he was given the tag he counted towards the cap. Glad to see some understand that concept on here.

That's your opinion, which you're entitled to, but the club disagreed, I wonder why?...

oooohhh! can i play? i know! i know!

because they know more about the situation than we do?

This is good, just wish he woulda signed a longer deal and lowered his cap hit. But, it's all good.

A lot of people only remember that pass he coughed up near the end of the season giving Jake another Interception. Too bad too, considering he's a darn good TE too. I have to admit though, I'm excited to see what Barnidge can do for us though ;)

King is OK, but lost a lot of targets to Rosario. He looked like he bulked up a little and blocks better than 2007, so that's something.

A 5th for his services would've been just fine, and this team always overestimates in RFA. A second round tender for backups, first round tenders for an overweight TE we cut in camp and a DT that was physically unable to play. RFA always costs far more than a traditional 4th year rookie, our guys never get signed, it's a useless system that we don't play well.

didn't he have one early also...around or before the 1st Tampa game?

and regarding the cap:

it doesn't matter he signed it. Just like Peppers' franchise tender, it costs once it's applied, regardless of whether it's signed. Signing it means he'll be a part of workouts, since he's now under contract, but otherwise it doesn't really matter. May also mean one side or the other isn't worried about negotiating a long term contract yet.
