I don't see how anyone can hate Pilares. He has AMAZING speed and burned people routinely in college. He plays like a young Steve Smith.

Davone Bess burned people in college and he had no speed. Hawaii's offense does that. It makes average to decent receivers look great

Regarding Naanee, from what we've read, it's not so much that Rivera thinks Naanee is great as much as just a belief that nobody behind him is any better (and might be worse). Zod posted that this was based on how they looked in practice.

As to his issues, some have speculated that maybe Naanee and Newton just haven't developed any chemistry yet. My own take is that Naanee just has lousy body control, which is why he flails when he jumps for a pass.

this is pretty much my take as well. I can't even remember how many guys I've seen look good against 3rd string scrubs and never amount to anything. Until he does something against real NFL players I could care less about this guy

The point is, how do you ever get to see how he does against NFLer's unless he gets on the field?

We know what Goodson can do, both good and bad. Nothing wrong with seeing one of the young guys as well.

I'd take Davone Bess any day... He runs great routes, has the quickness needed to get separation, and catches everything thrown at him. An excellent guy to have for working in the slot. Let us hope Pilares can turn into this type of player.

I've actually heard Smith praise 'LA' as he calls him, says he was making plays in practice. But we have yet to see it on the field.
