Our rookie DT's

When was that. At no time would I consider our D successful. More like lesser degrees of lousy. Our D needs serious work that has been apparent for the entire season.

Our Buffalo package picked up when Conner stepped in during the AZ game. He seemed to pick up the run pretty well, while TD was able to play both from his side of the field. However, when TD went down in the GB game, it was only a matter of time before we got blown up in every way both in the rush and the pass. We simply had no answer for Finley.

When our safeties cheated, we got burned deep. When they didn't, Finley and and the RBs had their way with the middle of the field regarding passing routes. The middle of the line actually held up decently during that stint.

I think a lot of the reason that Connor and the other LBs blow some assignments is because they're forced to do too much to make up for a lack of support up front. With a line that generates some push into the backfield and ate up a lot of the blocks, I think our LBs would look a lot better. Right now every single defensive player is being blocked on a lot of plays, there simply nothing that they can do.

Maybe both the DTs and the LBers are inexperienced and playing badly. In terms of what needs to improve, it doesn't have to be one or the other.

People want to say it's the line or the backers or the safeties or the corners.....but in reality there is room for improvement everywhere.

Suh was the exception, certainly not the rule. It's very rare to see rookie DT's come in and play well. In fact, it can take 3-4 years before a DT really hits his stride. It's just not a position that young players come in and make an impact at very often.
