Smitty and Roman Harper Article

This REALLY pisses me off...He really is trying to act as if he was simply defending his territory? I could see if Steve Waltzed in doing the PrimeTime high step...he literally just slowed down...that is all. It's just the most idiotic thing I've EVER basically seen in football. At least most dirty players aren't as blatant or can come up with a SEMI-legit reason for what they did.

i dont think smith cares. he proved he was a bigger man than their defense when he made that catch and threw jenkins (i think it was him "covering" smith) to the ground. then after the td showed them why they are his bitch.

Nah, it was Jabari Greer who he threw down lol

Only person who deserves an apology out of this whole ordeal should be Malcolm Jenkins. Harper got him embarrassed nationally by being a victim of the wrath of Smitty. Probably went home to his wife and kids and they just shook their heads at him

METAIRIE, La. (AP)—Saints safety Roman Harper(notes) sat in front of his locker wearing a big grin when asked for his reaction to a $15,000 fine the NFL levied on him for his late hit on Carolina receiver Steve Smith.

“My reaction to it is the smile on my face,” Harper said.

Harper shoved Smith to the ground as the receiver slowly crossed the goal line during the first half of the Saints’ 30-27 victory over the Panthers on Sunday. A brief scrum between the NFC South Division rivals ensued.

When asked if the fine was worth it, Harper responded, “Oh yes it was. I think the point was taken and everybody that needed to get the point got it.

“I think the NFL got the point. I got the point. Everybody that was involved got the point,” Harper continued. “So I think it was good for this team. I think it was good for everything.”

Harper had said after the game that he “just lost it” when he saw Smith slowing down in apparent celebration before crossing the goal line.

Smith said Harper misread the situation...

Harper: Fine for hitting Smith was worth it

Ut oh. Come January 1, Smitty's going to go all "Fred Smoot" on Harper...

    • Rags lost again. All is right in the hockey world.
    • He’s responsible for two drafts classes. The first was one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seem. The second one is showing a ton of promise. I’m somewhere between skeptical and hopeful on Morgan.
    • I'm a big fan of Dan. His ability to find productive players deep in the draft will pay off.  I'm going to give him 1.5 draft classes right now, because I do think it's a little unfair to evaluate his first year when he got the job in January, especially when we went into that draft not having a first round pick.  XL and Brooks are still big time TBD players. Both still have incredibly high ceilings, but both have also given us legitimate reasons to have a lot of pause. Trevin Wallace, Chau Smith Wade and Jatavion Sanders have IMO outplayed their draft position early in their careers. That's a great thing. He also got Coker and Demani Richardson as UDFAs that year. Given the situation we were in, I really don't mind the gamble on the high ceiling guys. Still may work out, still may not, but if you made a checklist of ideal situation for an NFL GM to walk into, ours was near the bottom of that list.  Every single 2025 pick is contributing in some way. That typically doesn't happen. I am absolutely blown away by this draft class 6 games in. Even the best GM's miss on occasion, and we can't expect Dan to be 100% on drafts moving forward. Ryan Fitzgerald was an excellent find as well.  Comparing our last two drafts to the previous few is pretty shocking. Can you imagine this season without our Rookies? It would not be good. Additionally, this roster only has 6 players with more than 6 years of experience, and two of those are specialist.  The next step is equally important, and still very much TBD. We have to avoid Cap Chaos.
