Cam gets high praise from Shanahan

Recommended Posts

Check out what past Super Bowl winning Redskins head coach Mike Shanaha said about Cam. Shanahan coached one of the very best QBs of all time earlier in his career .... John Elway. I don't think Shanahan gives out much praise to opposing QBs unless they earn it.

"Cam Newton once again confirms he's no ordinary rookie"

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-10-23/cam-newton-once-again-confirms-hes-no-ordinary-rookie

Here's what he said ...

"I’ve got to take my hat off to Cam Newton," Shanahan, a two-time Super Bowl-winning coach, said. "He made some plays that most quarterbacks don’t make.

He did a great job with his feet, I thought he hung in the pocket and he made some throws that you don’t see very many pros make, especially young players. I take my hat off to him. That’s one of the better days I’ve seen from ANY rookie quarterback."

You know that Shanny just drools about the possibilities if Cam played for the Redskins. He's probably jealous of Coach Rivera. Rivera might be with the Panthers for a long time like Belichick has been with the Patriots (because of Brady mainly).

I bet if Cam hears about coaches like Shanny giving him high praise it would give him a confidence boost and inspire him work even harder at his craft. Cam could be a Hall of Famer like John Elway someday if he does.

"As far as me being re-energized, just a spade calling a spade," Smith said. "I’ve been sitting on the shelf for about two years, just collecting that dust. Get the cobwebs off, throw on a little WD-40 and let me go to work."

Steve Smith and his lulsy quotes.

That's Steve Smith for you. He's getting to that age where he's worried about being on the down slope and all that.

All he needed was at least an above average QB throwing to him and all that talent is going to come out. He's still got "it". Other teams would love to have him on their team.

I'd be excited if I was Steve Smith. The next few years may be the most fun he's had in his whole football life. Let's hope so. I liked seeing Cam and Steve Smith smiling after the game this week. Cam's been bummed a little this month until today.

I want to see them smiling all the time this year ... maybe even in January in the playoffs if we get REALLY good both offensively AND defensively.

It's a damn shame that we lost Beason and Thomas Davis. I hope the other guys can step up in their place. Defense is the big worry on the Panthers team now. What a difference a year makes after last year's "subpar" offense.

Classy of Shanny to give props.

I gotta ask though, Belichicks success is due mainly to Brady?

Well you gotta admit that when you have a consistently elite QB it sure does help the team win a lot of games and that gives the coaches a little job security. Coaches aren't wild about moving every few years you know.

Scott Pioli, the guy that drafted Tom Brady in the 6th round probably deserves most of the credit for drafting him ... probably the best "value pick" for a QB of all time. Pioli also hit the lottery by trading with the Dolphins to get Wes Welker. The Dolphins have made all sorts of dumb moves in the last 10-15 years with players.

Belichick is the #2 reason for the success of the Patriots over the years. He's a really good defensive coach. He also just manages the team really well. He knows his stuff and he makes SURE that the players do as well. He gets the most out of all of his players ... not just the starters.

Pioli acquiring Welker wasn't the lottery... they faced him a few times and knew how good he was, but they thought he wasn't being utilized well in Miami. Belichick knows how to get the most of out his guys, and while Brady has helped him, he has proven he can win some games without him.

Cam was amazing today, and he still has room for improvement! Very exciting to watch him develop!

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
