Shiancoe just caught another 3rd and long conversion!

But seriously, it's embarrassing knowing where the ball will go each time and not have a guy man on man with him trailing underneath to make sure he doesn't do a silly stick route for the wide open conversion EVERY TIME.

For everything that has changed the lack of covering the tight end sure hasn't. Probably has something to do with the JV linebackers we are rolling out there each week.

When you play Madden and someone has hit the tight end a few times...you cover it...in Madden, a video game played by people not coaching in a professional league or playing professional football.

My advice to McDermott: on third down..put the RE in a yellow zone and user the mlb in case it is a post play on the tight end..Tight End Shut down!

You know feeling that we had in Fox's last 3 seasons where you knew our O couldn't convert a 3rd down? That's how I feel now about opposing offenses converting 3rd downs. Like it's a mathematical certainty. That "I would bet my next paycheck on it" feeling. It wasn't just yesterday either.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
