Panthers never had an identity before, except just being that team in Carolina that runs some and ok defense. Enter Cam Newton. The franchise guy the Panthers have never had that the rest of the nation could latch on to(and it's own off/on fanbase too). This isn't just about selling tickets. It's establishing the Panther brand that has never really been.

Everytime I see him around kids, they just flock to him, probably because he's still a kid himself.

If the young man continues to grow, keeps his head on straight, he could do for this franchise and this city what Peyton Manning did for Indy for 12 years.

People worry about him leaving, I don't. I think he likes it here and he's close enough to his base in Atlanta that its a non-factor. He strikes me as someone who likes to visit the bigger cities; but, home is home.

Is Cam the best thing to ever to happen to us?? The best thing no. But he is one of the best. But there is a list of other guys who fall into that list as well. Eric Davis, Mike Minter, Mark Carrier, Wesly Walls, Mike Rucker, Peppers, Stephen Davis, Steve Smith, and the list can keep going. All these guys on this list and more has been good for the franchise in 17 years. One man doesn't make a team. It takes other guys aswell.
