One thing we can all agree on as Panther fans

Brian Murphy sucks as our special teams coordinator and needs to get a pink slip.

Week after week he constantly affects us negatively, I don't think we have had one good play on special teams unless you consider touchbacks good plays.

I don't know if this guy just cant game plan, motivate his players to get the best out the of them or what but there has been 0 improvement since week 1.

This guy has got to go.

Agree. If you re-watch the punt return, the lack of effort by the players on the field was atrocious. That cannot be allowed.

One more point: last week in one of Rivera's pressers, he mentioned that the ST were getting better, in spite of the 70+ yard return we gave up against Minn. Those type of comments really p!ss me off. We watch the game too Ron.

a guy with no pennies to his name will have improved off when he picks one off the sidewalk, but he'll still be dirt poor. that's where we are. we still suck, just maybe a little less than we did at the beginning.

only positive thing i see from his continued employment is better draft picks.

still not worth it to see that kind of ineptitude.

i'm not just pissed at him, though. jason baker needs to be gone yesterday. he's sucking as a punter and a placeholder. i'm not happy with mare. we should have gone after shayne graham. we absolutely needed to part ways with kasay because he is very much on the decline and he still would have required another roster spot to do kickoffs.

i'm tired of project returners. throw both pilares and edwards to the curb. either draft or pick up in FA or trade for someone that actually knows how to do it and can do it well. i have no problem with us using a roster spot on an actual return specialist if he can get positive yardage.

until we have a special teams unit worth a crap, we should use them as little as possible. on 4th and short, just go ahead and try for the yardage. we are much more likely to convert that than get our 3 points or stop the punt returner. coaching needs to quit play calling under the assumption we have anything close to a competent special teams unit.

one guy that i want and have wanted since he came into the league because im an ohio state fan and he played there is Ted Ginn Jr. the guy makes things happen when returning kicks. he played with Gamble in college, were recievers together gamble's first couple yrs in college so im sure they have a solid friendship. maybe he could recruit him here.. plus he's a FA in the offseason. I want this guy!!! and he could be a deep threat in the passing game

Did anybody watch the game on TV yesterday? I think the announcer said something astonishing like, "Carolina hasn't completed a successful onside kick since 1998!" Seriously? WOW!

Fact is, we've sucked on special teams for awhile now... even with FOX!!! Kasey was the only bright spot, minus Smith's rookie season when he would return kickoffs. Besides that, as a franchise, we've struggled since the days of Michael Bates.

I swear every year we draft this soon-to-be amazing return man, and nothing comes of it. Maybe it's the "Michael Bates Curse".

I was in the stands yesterday so I didnt have the luxury of instant replay, it looked like to us there there was 2 blocks in the back on that return. Not defending the special teams play, because lets face it Armanti Edwards might be the worst return man in the league and our overall gap discipline is shotty, just wondering if anyone else saw the missed calls?

12-men on the field, countless false starts, blown blocking assignments are all responsibilities of the special teams staff.

If Rivera wants to make a point, he and Hurney need to accept their loss and cut ties with Murphy.

One of the constants for this team has been the porous Special Teams. Well, Hurney had another shot to fix it, and signed an even worse Coordinator.

Moves like this are the ones that really seethes my hate for Hurney at times.

Two guys took turns blatantly holding Munnerlyn, Connor also got a hold/block in the back RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE OFFICIAL.

I'm not making excuses, but Rivera's right - we're not getting calls.
