Can the Panthers afford to go Offense with their 1st pick in the Draft?

Move back or go BPA but don't reach for a position of need. If Claiborne really is a top 5-6player in this year's draft then he's got to be the pick. But if he ends up being a middle of the round kind of talent then you can't pick him in the top 5. You try to move down and get more picks if that is the case because IMO there isn't a justification in taking Matt Kalil for our team. Not saying that OT isn't important but it is LESS important when you have a QB like Cam Newton who can make something out of nothing. Ben Roethlisberger won 2 superbowls with two of the worst offensive lines in the league because of talent that he has outside of the pocket.

first off, i dont see us getting the top pick, i think we beat the Colts, 2nd, if we do get the top pick, i still say a WR, i know people will say the same thing they said last year, but Blackmon would just make Cam Newton a better QB and would take a ton of pressure off Smith, plus, we can find defense in free agency, but this time, we need to get a DT and a CB.

    • My take on Darnold was always that he was fine with a good offensive line but would wilt under pressure with a poor line (Jets and Panthers). Seattle began the year w/ a pretty bad oline and they improved somewhat but Darnold is showing he is a pretty good qb. Imagine what the Panthers would be today with Darnold and without Bryce Young and all the wasted draft picks to get him.
    • Similar situation but that would be a better version than what we currently have. Sam isn't a franchise QB but he is a good bridge guy. Either Seatle finds a young guy to groom or they have hit their ceiling. They 100% can't put it on Sam's shoulders and expect to win but the team needs to carry less with him at QB to win vs what this team has to do with Bryce.
    • to me the post would suggest Sam Darnold was good last night because Seattle won in a wild game.   Which is what we do with Bryce Young.   Sam Darnold didn't play well last night.  Which is how he trends, goes to a new team.....looks okay and becomes classic Sam Darnold down the stretch.  Last 6 or 7 weeks old bad Sam is coming out a lot (and then a weird Atlanta game mixed in lol).
