Truth Is: The Defense Is Horrible. Chud and Cam Are Regressing.

My ignore list continues to skyrocket today. Of course like 12 of the 15 are PFFL alts. Gotta keep up...

Mods need to do something about this asshat. It's far beyond the stage of "bawww this troll said something mean" and more like "this failure is spamming the boards with garbage and making it completely unreadable".

It's making me not want to visit the site as much. Which is a shame, but when everyone is a dick to everyone else and people just create alts to troll, it's hard to want to read. Hell, some threads I have to ignore half the posters.

Why is everyone talking about "WHAT Cam should have done" and "HOW bad Chud/Oline is" when we put up 30+ points. Last time I checked our defense gave up 20+ points in the second half alone... Fix that and we will win some games, and not a second sooner.

I don't think Cam fooled anyone. I stated from the first Sunday Cam got his 400 plus yds that if this team doesn't step up and help Cam, he will slowly regress. It has got to be demoralizing that no matter what u do, ur team can't seem to help u get a win.

Asking a rookie QB to put up 30 plus points every single week playing against different defense is a lot to ask for. Especially when u sit there and watch ur defense give up 30 plus point every fugging week.

I am so fustrated at this team and this is not even my damn team. How the heck can this team allow a fuggin back-up RB from the Lions to scorch their asses.

Keep focusing all of ur attention on Cam and see where that gets this team. Rivera needs to stop trying to turn Cam into Superman and start turning the rest of the team into fuggin players.

The fugging Dolphines won by 35 and the Panthers need more than that to win...Like WTF

I know he didn't, but its just an expression. I've been saying 'adjust your expectations' all season for that reason.

our 2nd half offense was not very good. We still should have won the game, but I would have liked to have seen another drive or two, even if it ended with a FG instead of a TD, or even just to eat clock.

Remember that we had 10 points off turnovers and 7 from special teams.

It should have been enough to win, but there were some areas on offense that could be improved.

I think you dont give other teams enough credit. I dont expect any offense to drive down the field every poss, much less a offense ran by a Rookie. We put up more than 30 points today. That is more than any game in 03 and we lost. That does not scream offensive failure and poor ball control.

we had 8 points in the 2nd half, 28 points on offense total, including 10 from turnovers. While our total should have been more than enough to win, our large number of 3 and outs didn't help matters in the 2nd half. Still, defense didn't do it's job at all, giving up 49 points in 3 quarters. Ick.

Not trying to take blame away from the D here, but our offense starts to play weird once it gets a lead. If we'd managed even just one extra long drive, this game may have been different. I don't think that falls on Cam as much as on our OC though.

Of the 10 teams we have played, 6 have beat us with 26 or more point. Our defense seems to give up on the avg of 30 points a game. I understand our offense stalls some but its just teams adjusting to our big play approach and Chuds refusal to use the run game or crossing routes. The only check down on most plays for Newton is the RB, the rest are running 10 or more yard routes. With all that said most teams would kill to have a offense that can put up 25 points any given Sunday.

Also look at this, of all the teams today we were tied for the second highest scoring team today. Also all those teams that scored 30+ points won except us! Its the same story every week, Offense scores 25+ defense allows most points in the league to lose us the game. I mean we gave up 49 points today!!

I 100% agree our defense is the main reason we are losing. I just think our offense has room to grow... which is good! I don't think they are why we are losing, but I think if they can grow a bit, I think we could see them be flat out reasons we win most of our games instead of the reason we're not getting blown out.

Also yes, our points total today would have been enough to win or tie in every game so far... but that's not surprising... our D just keeps getting weaker and weaker :( Damn injuries.

Our team is why we lost. No team = no win

And god dammit at the people constantly trying to tell everyone how the message board they constantly post at sucks and additionally how stupid everyone is. Some of y'all suck

yourselves off so hard it's ridiculous

The defense doesn't even have to be discussed. 35 points is plenty enough points to beat a team on any given Sunday... Unless the team scoring 35 points has the Carolina Panthers' defense. They are obviously f*cking horrible and I'm tired of seeing people discussing which offensive players should be our first pick in the draft... They shouldn't be. The first pick should be a defender. Most likely, every pick after that should be defense as bad as we are.

Secondly, say what you want but Chud is regressing and consequently so is Cam. I'll go easy on Cam for a couple of reasons - First, he's being in a position to fail because of Chud's playcalling. Be honest, that 35 points today had very little to do with a dominant offense... We got lucky with 3 early turnovers and a KO return. Realistically, if our offense was that awesome, we should've had a lot more points than we had in the first half.

The other reason to go easy on Cam is because, duh, he's a rookie. But, he's shown at times that he doesn't play like a rookie. Today though, the stuff we saw was all rookie... He was overthrowing and forcing things that weren't there. The overthrows had a lot to do with poor snaps from Kalil; the forced throws I think are attributable to the Titans loss knocking his confidence a little bit and secondly, teams now know how to play our offense.

They have 10 weeks worth of tape on us now and the last two weeks have been our worst showings. Why? Because, now they know to create pressure with the front four and drop 7 into coverage. At times last week, the Titans were even dropping 8 into coverage.

This goes back to Chud. I understand we're a vertical passing team, but there is a little something called adjustments, and Chud isn't making them. Deangelo should've had over 100 yards rushing today. Instead, he broke a few nice gains and Chud was content with that and felt it was enough for the defense to respect and went right back to forcing the pass.

Problem is, again, defenses are now playing the pass. The passes Cam made today were into some very tight windows aside from the flats and screens. It's because teams are playing the pass now as the priority. Chud should mix up some heavy sets and power runs, but he doesn't. Even the runs we've broke for big gains have been out of cute little 1 back 1 TE sets.

Teams don't respect our run anymore and are happy to allow Cam to pass. The INTs are a result of nothing being there. Period. Even the Smitty TD was in an extremely tight window. Chud has to make adjustments or it's going to be a very ugly finish this last 6 games.

Just some observations... I'm at peace with this being a lost season now and just looking for improvements now and what we can do for next year as sad as it is.

the defense isn't the problem.

WHEN YOU NEWTON THROWS 4 INTERCEPTIONS, IT'S NOT THE DEFENSE THAT CAN BE BLAMED FOR GETTING A FIFTY BURGER HANDED TO THEM.

    • Derrick Brown was one player I never called or even suggested was a bust . Dude was young and hadn't even hit his stride. It takes time to learn the position. The thing I appreciated about him is that he kept improving season after season. He got paid and keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
    • How many teams coddle their QB the way Bryce has been coddled? I have never seen any other team in the NFL EVER baby a QB the way that Bryce has been.  Bryce was named day 1 starter his first year. It was obvious he didnt deserve it. He wasnt ready as evidenced by the worst rookie year in NFL history.  So let's move to year 2. He's named starter again with no competition in TC and is benched 2 games later. We have the ghost of a backup in Dalton who is so bad he can only beat Vegas and let's remember, the only reason he lost his starting job was a car accident, not because Bryce actually beat him out in practice.  And year 3. We sign Dalton again, who already proved he couldn't be depended on to put an even remotely passable performance on the field, and bring back Jack Plummer, who was even worse than last year. It was obvious he was nothing more than a pretend body in an attempt to create an illusion of some type of attempt to find a backup.  Then we start again with garbage play again and Bryce gets benched with a phantom injury, and the ghost of the ghost of Dalton breaks his thumb on the first drive and craps the field all over again. If we had actually made an attempt to find a legitimate QB2, it's possible Bryce doesn't step on the field again. Bryce is not agood QB and if we had any other mediocre QB, our record would be the same or better.  Bryce is not entrenched. He's been placed, protected and sheltered from ever having to face a  real QB competition in TC. Richardson and Levis both were ass and both were benched and eventually replaced.  Do I expect Baker to face competition in camp? Sure. I expect Tampa to find the best QB2 they can at price that fits their cap and resources and system and get him up to speed. If he's better than Baker, and if he's better by a significant margin, that's best for the team. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. Bellichek was constantly getting QB2s with the GOAT as his starter. He knew the value and that was realized when Cassell led them to an 11-5 record as a backup.  You and I may think differently than the people that matter but I will say it again. If you're afraid to bring in a capable backup, especially after the debacle of last year. The starting role wasn't earned, it was given, and that's loser mentality.
    • I would have done the same thing.  LSU is a much better job than Ole Miss.  Plus the enormous contract and every advantage a college team can offer in terms of recruiting and facilities and tradition etc
