Armanti Edwards

I'll never understand they blind love for Armanti. Is it because he went to App St? Is it because he was a stud in college? Surely not the latter because so was Eric Shelton and we ragged on him pretty quickly. Is it because he's a Panther? Surely not, because the hate for Clausen is epic... yet most people here gave Jarrett way too many chances.

So what is it? Why do some of you blame everything in the world but Armanti?

What is there to "blame" on Armanti? He didn't choose his draft spot, didn't choose to have his position changed to PR and WR, he's just doing what the coaching staff wants him to do. Would Cam be to blame if we had converted him into a TE and he was mediocre at it?

Two kinds of football fans.

Those who look at what happens, and those who look at the reasons for why things happen.

You've made it pretty clear which category you fall in with your input in this thread, but the other category is the group you are referring to in your post.

That's why I love black/white threads like this. It gives you a chance to see what posters really pay attention, which ones have credibility, whose opinion you can trust going forward.

You can blame him for not showing enough to get on the field yet as a WR, or make his own path as a returner as the better returners do. How much more time will you give the kid before you finally see he doesn't have "it". Will yo give him all of next year too?

Ok then. Bump this when he puts up good stats as a WR. And if we ever get "good blocking" (Pilares likes our blocking, btw), bump this when he gets multiple nice returns. I'll eat crow.

That won't happen though. So stick to your project excuse, coach excuse, and poor blocking excuse.

are you really surprised that a 4 year college quarterback is not a starting caliber WR on a TE reliant team? Hell why isn't Jimmy starting WR either? Armanti has been put in a crappy situation (that said, its probably the only situation possible that would give him even a chance to stick in the league). But theres nothing to blame HIM for. Except for being an undersized QB tryna make it in the league. Its not like he doesnt work his ass off

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
