Deangelo's Contract will be the Worst Thing to Happen to this Offense

I don't think Williams is having a bad year as much as he isn't getting the carries that he is used to get. Between splitting the carries with Stewart and our new pass game the days of two 1,000 yard or maybe even one 1,000 back are gone. If you think Williams is done then explain why his YPC is 5.2? that is pretty good and if you think he is bad because he only has 600 yards then you don't pay attention to whats going on. Stewart is a beast and is younger but he isn't considered an elite RB and we shouldn't have a problem keeping him. I think Hurney is smart enough to realize how important it is to have two running backs that can take the load off of one another. Stewart should have no problem being resigned and shouldn't cost as much money as Williams.

I know it looks bad that we don't have a 1,000 yard RB because of our history with Fox running the ball but those days are gone and our RBs are doing as good as any top RB considering the carries they are getting.

Exactly here and here is where you stopped making sense. Stewart disagrees with that nonsense and it's his call where he signs after his contract is up. Running backs don't last long in this league. You think Stew, in the limited time that he has, wants to make less money than he should because he has a smaller role in our offense than other running backs? Stew will just find an offense that will use him as the main running back and with a salary that reflects that.

I would tell you that Williams has a better YPC than Stewart simply because he has more big plays (runs of 20+: 8, compared to Stew's 3), but this isn't a Williams sucks thread, it's a Stewart is more important to this offense thread. You know running backs have receiving stats too, right?

Stewart is making pretty good money because he was a 1st round pick. He isn't an elite RB. Lets face it teams are not willing to give multiple 1st round picks to get him and they are not willing to pay him Chris Johnson money to lure him away from Carolina. I know that your a big fan of Stewart and I don't want to put him down because he is one of my favorite players but his role on this offense is just as important and equal as Deangelos. We use a two running back system and have since Stewart has been here. Stewart is going to make just as much money here as he would anywhere else and his numbers won't be that much different unless Chud decides to stick to more passing. You act like he is going to leave Carolina because he isn't getting twenty carries a game.

I would also like to say that you are right about Deangelo's YPC is higher than Stewarts because of his big plays, Stewart is more of a power RB and Williams is more speed so it would make sense for Williams to have more big runs.

The fact is we have two good running backs that have their own special skills. To say Deangelo's contract is the worst thing to happen to this offense is ignorant. You do not know what he is going to do in the future and he is doing just as good as he has in years past, the only difference is that we don't have John Fox to run the ball 70% of the time.

Also if you remember Williams was considered and still is one of the elite Rbs in the NFL. Just because he doesn't have 1,000 yards this year doesn't mean he is sucking.

I would have probably held this trump card for a bit longer.

No. This isn't for teh bragging rights on the innernet. I just want everyone to know that I warned them, and they didn't give a poo.

Hmm...this is happening a lot sooner than I expected though. I'll admit that.
