According to a report from 670 The Score in Chicago, Bears WR Sam Hurd supplied drugs to NFL players numbering in the "double digits."

Football was apparently a side job for Hurd, who was one of the top drug dealers in Chicago. His operation makes Nate Newton's 213 pounds of marijuana look small-time. Doing roughly $2 million worth of business every month, Hurd was looking to buy "5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week for distribution in the Chicago area." Hurd faces up to 40 years in prison, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. His football career is over. Dec 15 - 4:46 PM

I'd bet Hurd is a bitch and rolls on some of these players. dude is going to jail.

he won't do 40 years regardless

True...I know a guy who had a similar operation going. Got busted and was facing 50. Rolled over on the Russian (or maybe it was Polish) mob and put 10 guys away for a long time. He did 6 months, but now lives in Federal protection with his wife and kids for what he did. Tough call to make, but at least he got somewhat of a life back.

If I was facing 40 years, I would roll on everyone in a heartbeat if it would give me a chance of getting out in 5 or so.

rolling on people lower than you in the chain of distribution is not going to get you off. he is going to have to start rolling on the guys he got his drugs from and thats the kinda stuff that will have you coming up missing

This guy is a real dumbass... or completely delusional if he thought he could get away with this...

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Word-on-Hurd.html

On July 27th, T.L. (a Hurd co-conspirator) attempted to purchase 4 kgs of cocaine on behalf of Hurd from a Homeland Security confidential informant.

They set up a meeting in Dallas and federal agents intervened, stopping T.L. for a routine traffic stop where they discovered marijuana and $88,000. T.L. said both the money and car belonged to Hurd. A vehicle registration check showed that the car did belong to Hurd. T.L. said that he routinely performed maintenance on Hurd’s cars. The authorities seized the money and released T.L.

On July 28th Hurd contacted and met with federal agents, stating that he was a Dallas Cowboy and that the $88,000 was his. He claimed he withdrew the money from a certain bank account and packed the money in his car prior to leaving it with T.L. for “maintenance and detailing.” The agents reviewed the bank statement, which didn't corroborate Hurd's story as the transactions and amounts differed.

 Tried to make federal agents believe that he'd withdrawn $88 Grand and left it in a car...

    • I’ve turned from a staunch detractor to him now having my 100% support. 1. He turned the worst o line in the league in to a top 10 unit in 1 offseason. Incredible.  2. Contracts to Horn and Hubbard. Reward your ride or die homegrown talent. Neither contract was way out of line for market value.  3. All of the talent he has added are intelligent, high floor types who love competing.  4. He understands that an org lives and dies off of the draft. This was the very first draft that I can remember since… ever where the franchise didn’t make a boneheaded trade and/or waste a high pick on a project tweener. No. It was Tepper sitting by almost completely mum, watching Dan orchestrate Dan’s draft…. picking intelligent high floor dudes from big name schools who showed up to play every Saturday and loved competing. It just felt right.  5. He has shown no reservation in cutting bait on guys that he sees as not having what it takes. This is really big one. It’s what the good teams do. Without it, you get the ‘coach’s guys’. Complacency. Stagnation. All these dudes needs to watch their backs.  I see him building a young core who have displayed NFL level ability. For the first time in a really long time it feels like the captain of the ship actually knows what he is doing.
    • Jake Guentzel was a pretty elite  player and he fit us very well. And we’ve only had two offensive elite forwards under Rod. That’s Jake and Miko. Sample size is pretty small and I feel like your arguments biased. We are going to get an elite player or two In the off-season, we can be the judge of that this time next year.
    • Defense is overall bottom 5 without a doubt.  We literally do no have any depth on any position for the defense.  We are once again a couple of injuries away from being complete garbage again.   I assume next draft will be defense heavy.
