J-Stew - What do we do?

Hey guys,

Been pondering over what we should do with J-Stew and figured Id bring this thought to the Huddle. He is a FA after this coming season and with D-Wills contract, it got me thinking...Do we...

1) Re-sign J-Stew. Just wondering here if he is going to be looking for a D-Will type contract. If so, I dont know if we have the room. Maybe we can restructure D-Will and have the abilities to keep both.

2) Trade J-Stew this offseason. I dont like or want this option, but if a team is willing to give up a 1st for him, would you atleast consider it??

3) Just keep him around one more season and let it play itself out. You never know whos going to have to be released or restructured or just how much money we will have then, so just hold onto him for one more season?

---I dont see this topic being discussed on here, but its something I have wondered about and just want to know what the Huddle thinks we should do with J-Stew. Discuss ---

let Stewart play out the last year of his contract. No need to rush into a deal w/ a RB. If he stays healthy.....resign him.

you don't trade a healthy Stewart...IF, IF you get rid of part of Double Trouble it is Williams that goes after the 2012 season.

A team isn't going to trade for a then 30 year old, going on 31, running back.

I didn't say anything about trading Williams. If your option is resigning a healthy Stewart after 2012 and cutting a 30 yr old DeAngelo.....you resign Stewart and cut DeAngleo.

What I was saying was that no team is going to trade for him, because cutting him shouldn't be an option. The cap hit, which is indicated in RocknRolla's thread, would be gigantic if we released him.

hopefully drafting 1st round RBs are a thing of the past and we grab one next year to start grooming a RB behind these guys.. Stew will be around for a while, we need a guy to replace DWill...

it would be nice to trade the guy before he starts trending down, anything is better than nothing.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
