ESPN This just in: Arizona Cardinals tell Boldin they will look for potential trades

Do what it takes to get him.

Defense be damned, we'd have one of the league's best offenses. In the NFC South, that's good enough for ... last place.

Right New Orleans?

Seriously folks, the Panthers have had success in the past from a few things: running the ball, running the ball to open up the passing game, and our defense. Guess which two of those we already have pretty well in hand?

I sincerely think people are still stuck in the Colbert and Carter era. We don't need to make a move for every receiver in free agency or the draft, let alone the really expensive ones.

Carolina really needs to drop this draft into a few offensive linemen in late rounds for depth and slap the rest of the better picks into anything on defense.

yes- your an idiot-- lets waste our "talent" rounds on backups, and then use our "wildcard" rounds for starters..

man, you are SMART :hurray:

Thank God they especially dont listen to you. You wanna trade Peppers for Boldin? Really? You know how badly we need defensive line help. If we are to trade Peppers you know very well it will be to help out the DEFENSIVE side of the ball. WE DO NOT NEED HELP AT WR!

Neither did we need help at RB when we used a high draft pick on a fellow named Jonathan Stewart.

Strong offense helps the defense, or if necessary, compensates for it. And having an option like Boldin opposite Steve Smith could make the Panther offense a nightmare for opposing defenses. And if you think a team with a nightmarish offense but a suspect defense can't win big, I'd point you to a team that went 18-1 just a few years back.

What some of the people in this thread don't get is that it doesn't matter what you think about Delhomme. Smart teams don't turn down an opportunity to improve a position regardless of whether there are concerns at another position. That's a "cut off your nose to spite your face" attitude that's frankly pretty stupid.

And of course the fact it would be Boldin plus 8 or 9 million dollars left over in extra cap space to spend on the defense.

The trade I'd want would be Boldin plus a high pick, with which would come the cap space of course.

Highly unlikely the Cardinals would give up the kind of trade I want seeing as they're said to want a first and third.

I'd send Peppers to Arizona for Boldin in a heartbeat, but it ain't gonna happen unless Peppers decides he's willing to play in Arizona. On paper, this deal would make sense - the Panthers need a 2nd receiver behind Smith and the Cardinals lost a DE in FA. The Cardinals went to the SB last year so it would fulfill Peppers desire to be traded to a serious contender.

I'm sure Arizona would not trade Boldin for Peppers straight up so we'd have to throw a high draft pick on there - maybe a 2nd or 3rd next year?

Now all they want is a second! I would do this trade in a sec. We can build the dline next year. Our offense would be sick.
we couldn't do that without peppers signing the tender and either being traded away or signing a new cap friendly contract. boldin is wanting some big money.

I didnt even think about what that would do to the cap. You are prob right, we couldnt afford him.
