Brandon Marshall has reached out to Matt Flynn

Brandon Marshall is in recruiting mode. He’s looking for a good quarterback.

Marshall, in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, told NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington that he’s already spoken with Packers quarterback Matt Flynn about coming to Miami.

“You’ve got some guys in the draft, but there’s not too many guys out there just walking the streets,” Marshall said. “Matt is available. . . . . We’ve talked. I reached out to him. I get it from Ray Lewis. Around this time of year, players talk to players.”

As Darlington notes, there’s nothing illegal with NFL players recruiting other players. Ultimately, it’s not like it’s going to make a big difference. The presence of salary cap room and Flynn’s former coordinator Joe Philbin are going to be bigger factors to Flynn than a call from Marshall.

It’s easy to forget that the Dolphins already have a decent quarterback under contract in Matt Moore. But Dolphins management has made it clear they are looking for an upgrade.

“Obviously, Matt [Moore] had a great year,” Marshall said. “You don’t want to take anything away from Matt, but I think we really bring in somebody who can compete and make the team better.

“We need someone who is going to grab a hold of our offense, hold everyone accountable and be that leader.”

Matt Moore is apparently not that leader. Perhaps Matt Flynn will be.

Looks like Matt Moore isn't a leader.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
