Without any further ado..

With the 8th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, The Carolina Panthers select...

Michael Brockers, Defensive Tackle LSU

bilde.jpg

Analysis: All aboard the Michael Brockers Bandwagon. This 6'6 manchild was major part of the Tigers defense this season on their route to the national championship. Brockers constantly played at a high level no matter what the offensive line threw at him. He thrives in the double team, he constantly gets his hand on the running backs and quarterbacks and disrupts plays on nearly every down. Brockers has so much potential and he has so much more muscle and knowledge to gain. He plays mean, and the LSU fans can vouch for that, some call him the scariest guy on the team. But he is a great guy and has the will and skill to be great.

Player Comparison: Albert Haynesworth

With the 40th pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Carolina selects...

Vinny Curry, Defensive End - Marshall

Analysis: Curry is one of those guys that could be picked at the ned of the first or the beginning of the second. We find ourselves in a great position to land an incredible defensive end. Curry tore apart the Senior Bowl and was a force with the heard for his entire collegiate career. If we could add Curry to our rotation of Johnson, Hardy, Keiser, Applewhite, Curry. Our D-line would be solid for years and thats very important in this passing league and it automatically makes our secondary better.

Player Comparison: Cameron Wake

With the 72nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Carolina selects...

Antonio Allen, Safety - South Carolina

Analysis: I don't think anyone from the coaching staff to the front office are on the Sherrod Martin wagon...I think we'll definitely try to find someone to atleast be able to push him and be a good rotational player/ special teams guy. Allen has been playing very well at the senior bowl practices and has proven to be one of the best safeties in the draft.

Player Comparison: Aaron Ross

With the 104th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Carolina selects...

James Brown, Offensive Guard - Troy

Analysis: We need to draft a versatile player that can backup whoever is playing guard or LT next season, or even possibly start at RG.

Player Comparison: Jahri Evans

With the 1046th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Carolina selects...

Ryan Steed, Corner Back - Furman

Analysis: I think addressing the defensive line is the key to fixing our problems in the secondary. We already have some young, promising players, and one reliable veteran. Therefor I think CB is something that will be addressed in the later rounds. We need to bring in guys that can contribute to our special teams.

Player Analysis: Tramon Williams

With the 188th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Carolina selects...

Brad Nortman, Punter - Wisconsin

Analysis: This pick really needs to happen. I was glad to hear that we were actually scouting Nortman to possibly select with one of our last picks. All reports say Nortman has a monster leg, which means he would be an immediate upgrade from Baker.

Player Comparison: Mike Scifers

Yea, I wouldn't call LB a huge need. Sure, TD likely won't play like his old self if at all but we still have Beason (elite) and Anderson (very good) and whoever at the other spot. Most teams can't say 2/3 of their starting LB corps is elite and very good. Plus, I hope we sign Erin Henderson :)

You're right, LB's had nothing to do with our run stopping woes, it was all DL.

That's how it works in a gap control defense.

I see you are still working on your sarcasm skills.

Hard for LB'er to shoot gaps and what not when a 300lb guard is pushing a 300lb DT into their face.

When all we had was our "very good" LB and scrubs, sure that had something to do with our run stopping woes. Still not as much as the DT deficiency.

I fully agree. Look at the Giants, they have an average at best group of linebackers but still produce on defense. It was painful watching our defense getting picked apart either through the air or up the middle. I don't think there was a running play that Fua and McClain didn't get thrown 5 yards back on. Build a solid defensive line rotation with great players, and you'll see a huge difference. The war is won in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

u are a genius my friend... if you wouldn't mind me one upping u.. I believe we need to trade up to the 3rd round and pick up George Iloka ( hopefully he is still there) then in the 4th go after Kennan Robinson or a WR/ Punt Returner/ Scat back then 5th round we go for offensive line depth or corner, and keep the rest of the draft like you had it.... I really want richard marshall back though via free agency.... but thats just me!
