Would you stay up at draft night

If it's just to see what the Panthers do, I'd probably say no, but if you're interested in seeing what goes down in the draft as a whole, I'd say yes. I find the whole draft process pretty interesting, not just what the Panthers do, so I'd stay up and watch it regardless.

I little draft tidbit for all of you...

Last year I was in an airport during the draft... and I was boarding a plane bound for Italy (10 hr flight) right as the Panthers used their 1st pick... I sat down on the plane and got a call from a friend that we had picked Stewart.

Admittedly I was all about getting an OT... and the pick of a RB when we had Deangelo was perplexing...

It was some 20-30 hours later before I was able to see that we traded back into the 1st round and got Otah... (which I was ecstatic about!)

The point is that would prolly have been a pretty exciting thing to watch... and the draft in itself is when you get to see more NFL action (in regards to trades) than any other time.

So yeah, I'd stay up and watch... but I'm a fanatic.. a real nutjob when it comes to watching the Panthers.

I was dancing around the room when I saw that Eagles graphic transform to a Panthers graphic, because I knew exactly who they were going to get.

I was brought down a little later when I found out what they had given up, but I was cheering like they had just scored a TD.

Even though we don't have a 1st this year, it actually might end up being even more entertaining. I know I'm going to be watching every pick waiting to see that Panthers logo pop up and hear JP is traded.

i would to..the only guy i have seen the panthers haveing strong interest in..thats going in the first is larry enlish..but i rather get 2nds

I like some of the tackles and Moreno (absolutely no need), and Maclin and Pettigrew. Other than that, there's not much I want in the first that can't be had in the 2nd.

I have an eye for the top 3 QB's but they'll go too high.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
