The offseason isn't over. We don't know FOR A FACT that Cam will CONTINUE to work hard throughout the offseason. Any way you wanna slice it, the offseason has yet to end, and you cannot see into the future. I don't doubt that Cam will continue to work hard throughout the season, but that is still NOT A FACT. Learn the difference between fact and prediction. They're two different things.

and again why dont you know that when history says that he will. history are facts.dont be a tough guy on the net bro

but you can predict the future by looking back at the history.

Not always. Take for instance Cam Newton.

If you told me that a guy got a scholarship to a great school but only lasted ONE year because he was kicked off the team for stealing a laptop and then throwing it out the window, I would be kinda worried.

Then, he remakes himself for ONE year at a small school but there were accusations of money changing hands with his father no less while on his way to another school, I would be a bit more worried.

Then, while winning the biggest game in college ball, came out with his desire to be an icon, I would worry about the guy being a franchise QB in the NFL.

Yet, history did not keep him from rising above all the distractions to become one of the best rookie qb's in the NFL history. Everyone here hopes history does NOT repeat itself and he continues to improve and carry this team a long way.

Philly fans and the media treated McNabb like crap.

Not to derail the thread but McNabb was disliked by his own teamates and coaching staff much more than he was the Philly fans and media. There is a reason the players on the team sided with TO over McNabb during their fiasco and a reason not one of his teamates spoke out against him being released. They were glad to see him go. Most fans wanted Andy Reid gone and not McNabb.

Hey, way to insult RGIII and make sweeping generalizations about white people while denouncing racism. Well played, sir. Well played.

Not sure I insulted RG3. If I did I didn't mean to. I love the guy and think he could be an electric QB.

The tone of the post (dresses like a clown, etc.) was through the eyes of some white people, not mine, and not all white people.

The truth is that throughout history many white people tend to hate African Americans who are brash and a little cocky. They prefer blacks quite, humble, and non-threatening.

That is why Muhammad Ali was hated by white America during his reign as champ yet Joe Frazier was so loved.

Yet most of white America loved Joe Namath during the same time frame. A guy was just as cocky, outspoken, got the biggest contract in professional football, was an unabashed alcoholic and womanizer, and wore fur coats on the sidelines. That was viewed as cool (it is cool BTW Namath had as much if not more swag than Newton).

That is why there is so much hate on Lebron right now. "Oh noes he did a special to announce him leaving to go to Miami that benefited the Boys and Girls club of America. He is too cocky! I hate him!!"

Everyone loves Aaron Rodgers and few ever said poo about his title belt TD celebration even before he won a SB. Cam does the superman thing and many white folk find it offensive.

Could you imagine the back lash Cam Newton would get if he criticized the efforts of his teammates in the Pro Bowl or criticized the Giants phantom injuries like Rodgers did?? He would be demolished as too arrogant and needs to know his place.

It is the nature of society unfortunately.

McNabb was booed, thrown under the bus, dissed, bashed, benched, etc, etc. I am not disagreeing about his teammates but the fans didn't treat him great as implied.

Mayock is just being consistent. He wasn't a big fan of him before he was drafted and although he had to give him his due after his rookie season is still skeptical. He acknowledges he has great physical skills but questions other aspects. I don't remember Mayock admitting he was dead wrong about Newton so what is he going to say?

People need to stop caring about what other people think about Cam or the Panthers. If you are happy with him who else really cares. This whole need to be liked and get respect from the league is really ridiculous and reminds of Sally Fields. As long as we win and make the playoffs, people can hate us and it doesn't matter one bit.

I imagine that everyone but Giants fans would agree with him because it's true.

You've decided to make Newton a victim and are going to see everything in that light....it's absurd.

Nothing against Luck, I hope he is as good as all the Luckers say...but does anybody else want him to fail just so all these dumbasses will look stupid?

I want him to be great so that the pro game continues to be entertaining.

    • Just because all draft picks are a gamble doesn't mean you don't have a better chance at hitting on a better player the higher you're drafting. It would literally be like someone saying, I'll give you 1 or 2 free spins on a slot machine, and you say you'll take the 1 because you're not likely to win anything anyways with 1 or 2, so why bother? The Cowboys desperately wanted T-Mac, but because they were 4 picks behind us, they weren't able to get him.  If you told Cowboys fans that had they lost 2 more games last year in a lost season, that it would get them the player they wanted so badly, would they in retrospect go back and lose those games to get their guy? 95% of them would take that trade off in a heartbeat, and the others who wouldn't are the fans who would rather enjoy an extra win or two in a poo season to then set themselves up to be better for the next decade. I also think the fans who argue against this thinking, get too caught up in the "well that means you're going to be rooting against us late in the season even if we still have a shot at the playoffs." Which isn't true, it's saying if you're telling me right now we'd make the playoffs but lose in the first round, that I'd rather end up 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss the playoffs because in our opinion, the benefits that come along with that outweigh the benefit of the players getting 1 game of playoff experience.
    • In relation to tanking. I think you can count on one hand the number of people here who actually want us to lose football games. When accounting for it across the fanbase it amounts to maybe 2% of the entire Panthers fanbase. But you engage with some internet trolls and think haters are coming out of the woodwork and hey look at that it's all a conspiracy that leads to Bryce Young haters. Do you hear yourself sir? If it sounds ridiculous that's because it is. I mean at this point do you see Bryce haters in your dreams? As far as the culture of this franchise goes we seem to be doing better in that department via what we are building right now and with the people we have in place. But we also shouldn't just make assumptions just yet either. The rubber still needs to meet the road. And going back to previous seasons I think we can acknowledge although tanking obviously isn't a thing there were some times where we thought our culture was improving but really it wasn't. Yes I'm looking directly at some of those wins under Wilks. If the culture had truly changed we would not have lost to the Steelers who have been mediocre for years at home the way we did and they were starting Mitch Trubisky ffs. We did not change our culture for the better and we won games that ultimately meant nothing. It was just a brief mirage. We've done this for years now. The harsh truth of the matter is the Panthers have not had a winning season or been to the playoffs in going on 8 years but in those years they've been trying to convince themselves they aren't poo but in the process all they've done throughout most of that time period is squander better draft position and we were still the worst team in the league for our troubles. At the end of the day we should be able to just be adults and reconcile with that. And no that isn't being "pro tank" or any other boogeyman term it's simply recognizing reality.
    • He's an asset in a game manager role. But as soon as you have to ask him to go out there and try to make plays and not just take what the defense is giving him... well, Darnolding happens.
