2010 Panthers vs this years Bobcats

Ok, poopoo thread needs a positive twist.

Who in this year's draft can be the Cam Newton for Bob's (ahem) MJ's Cats?

Is there one that could get them to .375-.400 ball next season? If not, not only is the question presented by the OP answered, more questions about the Bobcats ownership need be asked.

I don't think MJ has the cash necessary to float an NBA team. He's rich sure, but not Bob rich and Bob played Moneyball.

The better future for the Cats is if Chuck Muthafvk Barkley buys a piece and it would get better still if Tiga Tiga Woods Y'all would throw in as well. Then the Cats would be the coolest example, perhaps the epitome of the bad boy toy. With the possibility of high stakes tables soon available in Cherokee, why not?

There may not be one player that can get them that high right away but there is two guys who can make an immediate impact and be guys to build around for the future.

Harrison Barnes and Jared Sullinger. Barnes is the only guy that I see in the draft who has the potential to be a super star.

Sully may not have the potential to be a super star he is a lock to average 15 and 10 IMO.

I know they aren't the two highest rated on many TV people's draft boards but they are the only tow I want the Bobcats to take.

I am never excited about first year in college flavors of the year. Every year it is amazing that a freshman is #1. That is why I hope we don't draft Anthony Davis. Too much of an unknown and the last thing the Bobcats need is an offensively challenged, long, skinny, post guy. If they go big get a big guy with good skills guy like Sully.

Barnes would be just a new chapter in the book of Bobcats' UNC picks who sucked epically. And P55, I meant "disprove," not "prove."

How are you so convinced that Barnes would suck in Charlotte? How often have you watched him play college ball? I'm a UNC undergrad student, and have watched most of the games this year, and watched almost every game last season. I think he is a good player, I honestly don't know how he will translate to the NBA. But I sure as hell can't write him off like you just did lol. I'm very loathe to write most players off until I actually get the chance to see how they do in the NBA..

the Bobcats by FAR and i mean FAR. First off, the panthers (despite all the losing) still had it's fans and while the QB play was sad, we still had Smith, Williams and Stewart and it was at least fun to watch those three play. the Bobcats though dont haave anyone except Kemba Walker to care about and the owner. the Bobcats need a star player like a Cam Newton worse than Carolina in the sense that no one really cares for the Bobcats, including people who live in Charlotte!! i think if the Bobcats get an Anthony Davis or Harrison Barnes that then the fans would then start to care for this team.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
