I only say OT because of Fox. If our line gets beat up, we will sink real fast. Take away our running game and we will have a 2007 season all over again. If our line gets hurt, Fox will still run the offense the same way even though we dont have the players to perform it.

I'm calling it now and saying if Duke Robinson or Andy Levitre are there, that'll be the pick. Either one has way more value than the DTs that will be there.

Gut says DT, and yes I am thinking long term. Not only is defense the weaker unit, but also the biggest weakness is on the most important part of that unit, the DL.

If the G can play C too though that's really a tough call because then also need another guy who can play C. In that case I would probably have to say the G-C.

Lack of interior pressure was a colossal pet peeve for me last year. Still, I'm torn.

Worth noting DeWayne Robertson is still unsigned.

Valid, but I'm kinda hoping to keep the discussion centered in the trenches (OL vs DL) rather than just making it into a general "BPA vs need" discussion.

I only think like that outside the 1st round. I mean what's good? Kemo can be good, Lewis is an NFL starter... what's good for a 2nd round pick? We know what great means though.

It depends on who is there. I mean there might be a guy there that ppl have projected for the 3rd round but your scouting dept thinks they could be a huge steal at where we pick then I say go DT. I think TJ Lang will be there in the 3rd or even 4th and he can play anywhere on the line, T,G or center. But if its a guy who the Scouting Dept thinks is a 3rd round value vs a G who has a 1st or early 2nd round value then that is a no-brainier.

misconception about the draft is that your just building for this next coming year. A good F.O. looks 2-5 years down the road when drafting.

I say DT. I have a feeling Peppers will be back next season. That would shore up the defensive line which IMHO was a big part of the collapse of the secondary and the defense at the end of season. You can have good coverage...but if the qb has all day to throw, someone is going to get open. I think we have a better chance of drafting quality guards/backup linemen in the later rounds.

On another note, w/ Lucas gone you could argue for drafting a DB. I have a hunch we restructure Jake's conract after the draft...that will give us money to sign draft picks and possibly resign Lucas.

Vincent will be an UFA after next season so by going OG you are not only getting a key backup now, but the final piece of the entire OL to solidify it for the long term.
