Post Combine First Round Prospects at 9

Pejorative Miscreant

Recommended Posts

There isn't a defensive end, or MLB in this draft that is worth our 1st round pick. IMO.

The BC kid makes sense around 10-14. Grabbing him at 9 wouldn't be a reach. He would be BPA over someone like Poe. He is a football player.....with Poe you are hoping he can turn into one with his freakish skill set. Luke could play in 2012 (and there are a lot of question marks about even having bodies there)....Poe would be rotational at best and you would hope he could start in 2-3 years.

Yeah I'm really starting to think our front office would love to have a player of keuchly's caliber at the 9th spot. Wouldn't be surprised at all.

This years draft supposedly had a better crop of qb's than last years, thankfully we didn't use that line of thinking last year.

all along, once luck dropped out, there was only 1 QB that i thought was worth the 1st overall pick (or even a top 10 pick). as far as DEs go, there isn't anyone i feel nearly as confident about with that first pick.

thought processes like waiting for the next year to draft a position player because it's a better class could backfire but sometimes it helps or at least is worth considering in deciding between a couple players.

if you are having trouble deciding between a couple guys and you think that one of the positions has a better class the next year you might opt to wait for it.

I wouldn't mind Kirkpatrick or Coples. Either way is a win and fills a need for us. If we can't get either, Devon Still is a solid option, IMO. The reason I like Still...he self-proclaimed to be the best DT in the draft. Swag. This team has some, he'll bring even more. He'll bring an attitude with that kind of talk. JR and Rivera can mold him into not being an issue attitude wise. I like what I see on film from the kid. Let's take a shot if he's there and Kirkpatrick and Coples are both gone.

I agree with you when 1st round prospects are concerned, but I think the combine performances carry a much heavier weight when teams are thinking about what to pick in rounds 2-7.

maybe, but only because they probably didn't do a whole lot of research on those guys to begin with. combine just lets them know who might warrant a little investigating beyond those guys they have already looked at although scouting departments have probably already noticed ones from the more high profile programs.

i wouldn't be surprised to see him fall out of the first round, but i'm not expecting it. he's in the top 4 DTs (cox, brockers, poe, and still) and i see all four of those guys going in the first.

He's in the same tier as Worthy and Ta'amu ( who really, from a talent stand point, should be higher.) There are also a gazillion DE's that could go in the first.

I wouldnt be surprised if he went at the bottom of the first, but he's already projected there and is trending downward.

i have him slightly above worthy and ta'amu but i don't think the separation in talent is enough to warrant arguing over. i will say in the 2nd round i wouldn't have a problem with really any of them if we went another direction in the 1st.
