Thomas Davis lobbying for Poe

As any linebacker wants a mammoth tackle.

Helps the linebackers have a bigger impact, instead of fighting off blocks from linemen.

Job security as well. LB is a huge question mark. Davis wants Carolina to be in a position where they need him to pull off this miracle comeback.

reaching, as usual.

Davis will be a panther next season, cause of who he is as a man, and a leader.

We can draft a rookie, but i promise ya, the staff will start a healthy davis over any rookie.

Now whether or not the knee stays healthy, that's another ball of wax.

Any rookie linebackers would also want a Poe like DT, so they in turn, can play better.

Don't let sound logic stop your theory though.

LOL, it is NOT a reach that player don't want there position drafted form a job security standpoint. Listen to former players talk....they want anyone that can help brought in that doesn't play there spot.

That is fandom talking when you start the he will be a Panther bc of who he is and all that.....no player in NFL history has successfully done what Davis is attempting. He easily could not be a Panther next year. They will let him attempt it but that doesn't make his odds good.

Carolina will give Davis a shot....they can't count on him at this point. If he worked out that would be a huge bonus. Finding a OLB is now a clear need. Davis isn't going to want that need be addressed until he blows his knee again....pointing that out isn't reaching at all

Rookie LBs would prefer a vet in front of them. Rookie Poe isn't going to aid rookie LBs much.

I'd assume he was asked specifically about the draft and his opinion.

I doubt he is requesting meetings with management and staff trying to convince them.

Lobbying is probably the reach.

But yeah, clearly he's not going to be outspoken about drafting a LB. He's half delusional about his future although I don't really blame him. It's a hell of a lot better attitude than being defeated.

Even though this is mainly Davis trying to somehow save his job, I have to fully agree that we need a defensive lineman with our 1st. Whatever your flavor, Brockers, Poe, Still, Cox, Perry, Coples or Ingram, the trenches are where wars are won.

DE makes more sense at 9. DT if we could trade back. DT in the 2nd

It sucks for TD. His body keeps rejecting the donor tissue. That's why the knee keeps failing. His body rejects the tissue and his immune system literally attacks the tissue and starts breaking it down. Maybe this time he will be lucky and his body won't reject it. My father had the same surgery, but he was lucky enough that his body didn't reject the tissue.

    • When I say "average NFL WR", for me, that's comparing him to all WRs in the league during that season/span of time.  He was of course better than those #4-6 WR's that can't even get on the field, but talent/ability wise, he probably wasn't any better than a #3 WR for most NFL teams, he just happened to be on one of the teams in 2019 with even worse WR's so he put up solid stats for the season. Here's more or less how I'm looking at it. Take T-Mac right now and Chark at his best, put them on every NFL team at this very moment, and where would they fall on the depth chart come Week 1 (basically, the teams that don't put the rookies at #1 to "make them earn it in camp" don't count, it's projecting week 1 depth charts). T-Mac would be at worst the #2 WR on the majority of teams this season, (hell, he's likely our #1 at this very moment right now already), peak Chark would not.  Yes, T-Mac still has to prove himself at this level, but his current ability, even as a rookie who hasn't played a snap yet, would have him above Chark on any team's week 1 depth chart. Because again, you can't just fall back on "well Chark had a 1,000 yard season" and use that as the reason for having him above T-Mac.  As he didn't have that 1k yards because he was a beast, it was because he was the only halfway decent receiving option on a bad team that was always losing and passing the ball (the Jags had the 7th worst scoring differential that season).
    • We clearly need to add a veteran stopgap at safety one way or the other.
    • On Panther's Wire too. No idea, just found it and trying to share. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/06/15/nfl-free-agency-rumors-panthers-eagles-justin-simmons/84219881007/
