Last ti,e Saints loss their head coach, they tied the score for most points scored in a game and Carmichael was also interviewed to be a HC with other teams and decided to stay at least one more year. So there is a tried and proven HC backup already. Not saying there won't be any affect but when you beat the majority of teams by double digits, it's nothing insurmountable, especially when you have over 6 months to plan and Payton is allowed at Facility.

As for GM, he is suspended for just 8 games, not from being with team. The GM doesn't really do anything for the games, he does all his work now in offseason. So not much affect there if any.

implying that being considered a HC candidate at one point in your career = proven HC?

You do realize that Saints have been hosting a ton of defensive guys and are on the verge of replacing at least 3 of those 6 starters

I didn't realize the Saints (Sh*theads) were so flushed with cash? How much money are you under the cap? 5.2 million? Yeah, go replace all those starters. You are a joke. GFO and go back to the Saints Report, no one wants you here.

Oh, forgot to mention that 5.2 million doesn't include the franchise tender for Brees.....if he even signs it. If he does, you are about 10 million OVER, lol! :)

not sure that the saints are going to be the glamorous landing spot they originally thought after all this comes down.

Benson is one of those classic cheap owners. I don't see him taking this very well. From my understanding Benson will still have to fork over the money for Paytons salary. And have to pay a HC, Assis. HC. and a GM through the suspensions. Not to mention the fine to the team itself.

I think Benson fires them all and trades away Brees in order to recoup the lost draft picks and begins to rebuild.

After they spend all their money on them, maybe they can get Aaron Brooks to come back to QB for them.

Not that you'd know who that is.

jay glazer said he talked to payton and said that payton and everyone else was expecting just a few games, not a whole season. said that he was going to be missing out on $8mil worth of salary he was counting on. pretty sure benson isn't going to have to pay that.

i agree that benson might just fire everyone to try and save face. he's got to at least have contemplated it.

IF he did trade Brees he could get at least 3 or 4 first rounders, based on what Washington gave up for the 2nd pick this year! That would help. Especially if he released all the players involved (or traded them) and hired a whole new staff it would help him to save face, if he doesn't he is basically condoning it, imho.

It would be funny if the Saints decided to trade Drew Brees, that the 49ers would be kicking themselves for resigning Alex Smith. The 49ers would have given them their whole draft this year and next, because their team is primed for a run.

Too bad your theory holds untrue, Saints just signed DT Bunkley today to 5 year $25 mil with $9 mil guaranteed. So one more replaced today! He was considered one of the top 20 FA out of the over 750+ available. Loomis is a genius when it comes to cap space!

19. Brodrick Bunkley, DT: He's a run stuffer who belongs in a three-man rotation. Go watch the Jets or Lions game and see at least 10 tackles combined. Not flashy, but as the price comes down, he becomes interesting. He's only 29 and could play a few more years.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
