how many times must we debate this.....

I don't know how many times but I can let you know how long it will last.

One of the other major rules being considered at the NFL owners meetings early this week was the shift of the trade deadline. If you remember, the week 6 deadline often creates an issue for teams that suffer a major injury before the halfway point of the season but after the odd week 6 deadline. It’s a mark that simply doesn’t make sense, especially when looking at the much later deadlines in other sports leagues like the MLB or NBA. Even after the owners met, the rule remains the same for now.

Stewart has 5 more solid years in him at least, and is better suited for this offense. He isn't going anywhere. Hurney came out and said we weren't going to trade Peppers because he was an asset to our team. And Pep didn't even want to be here. I believe Hurney this time when he says we won't trade Stewart because he is an asset to the team. Doesn't come across as a guy that would just say something like that. Pretty straight shooter in that department.

Stewart can finish out his rookie contract and be franchised an additional year on the cheap. We will get at least 2 more years out of him, if not more. Personally, I'm happy about it. Stewart is a fantastic runningback, and is fun to watch.

If he wouldn't talk a deal with us, and we listen to trade options, the receiving team gets a one-year rookie contract and the option to use the tag...I can't see this as being a legitimate scenario...or Stewart decides to deal with the suitor and we have a sign-and-trade deal,,,That depends on what Stew thinks about the suitor. I'm sticking with the FO saying "we aren't trading Stewart"

Most people say Stew is worth a third round pick. Of course I don't want to trade him at all, and especially not for that price. Yet if Stewart has a really productive year and he walks afterward, we should get a third compensatory pick anyway. So it's best to keep him.

But, the Comp pick is at the end of the third and will be two years from now. A third today is worth WAY more than a third in a few years.

Not saying we should trade him for anything less than a 2nd, but I could still see it happening.
