I wish people would get off this trade Stewart nonsense.

Yes, Tolbert can play RB but he will most likely be used as the Fullback.

The holes can be filled without getting rid of Stewart.

A-Muthafuggin-Men!!

Find it amazing how people want to sbip off our best runningback.

Xojmt me as one that hopes that Stew remains a Panther.

I don't think anyone on here WANTS to get rid of Stew. We just look at the situation and realize that it is not likely to sign him long-term after the DWill contract. We can debate whether DWill should have gotten that contract.....and most would say no.

But, that ship has sailed and we are where we are.

I personally would take Stew over DWilll in a heartbeat. However, I am also in the camp that says signing him long-term at the end of the season is not likely and quite frankly would not be smart.

This is a passing league now and tying up $16-20M of cap space (15% of the Cap) in the RB position is not wise.

If we can get a 2nd for him, we should ABSOLUTELY make the trade. A 3rd and it is a more difficult decision.

Why would we trade one of the top 5 weapons in our offense? Tolbert could be a top 10 weapon, but he hasnt earned top 5 here yet. it just doesnt make sense...

2x 2nds maybe, but just a 2nd for Stew? Ludacris, and Im not talkin about the rapper...

Can we get all these 'trade Stew' threads merged, please?

I certainly hope that Tolbert would rank higher than more than one of our offensive linemen as a weapon.

we now have the most lethal backfield in the NFL. could end up being the most lethal ever.

build around what we have. get a defense that doesn't suck and keep building our WR corps and improve the Oline as needed and there won't be many teams who could stand in the panthers way.

build on and around your strengths.

Tolbert was signed as a FB and the only way you trade Stewart is if he isnt going to sign a long term deal.

P.S. whole=/=hole

Tolbert can do more things in this offense than DeAngelo. Williams

is a better runner.....Tolbert with his overall skill set is pretty dang good. Tolbert is not Brad Hoover

and won't be used as such.

Stewart will sign a big fat deal.....not a matter of will he do it. Carolina will try to get him to take less and that is why they have been trying to talk.....Stewart wont talk bc he wants his big payday and that doesn't set itself up until after this year. He is better than Williams in this offense....and he and his agent know to wait until after this season to talk and they will talk big dollars

Hard to "build" in all of those areas when you tie up 15% of your total Cap Space in the RB postion....that is the issue.

Under a salary cap, hard decisions must be made. Sometimes you have to sacrifice in an area of great strength to improve in other areas.

Impossible to be awesome everywhere.....so if you choose to build an uber backfield you accept the fact you won't be ideally strong somewhere. What positions do you think in today's NFL we can be weak at and still win consistently.

I wonder if the same people who are talking about building the greatest running team of blah blah blah are the same that claimed early last season that it's a passing league and you don't need a strong running game to win.

It's like whatever the Panther have is the secret to winning despite the pesky fact that we aren't winning yet.

    • I would say the fact that Dave Canales insisted on a 6 year contract should tell anyone all they need to know about his potential job security under the Tepper's. No matter how much we have heard recently about how David Tepper has learned from this and that. This is still the same man who spent $43.5 million to buy and then immediately demolish a house because of who owned it previously.
    • Same lineup to hopefully finish this one out tonight.  Here's today's projected lineup from the Hurricane's official website:   Tonight's Projected Lineup... Forwards Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Hall - Stankoven - Blake Ehlers - Staal - Martinook Carrier - Jankowski - Robinson Defense Slavin - Chatfield Miller - Walker Gostisbehere - Nikishin Starting Goaltender Andersen --- Injuries N/A Scratches Nicolas Deslauriers Pyotr Kochetkov Jesperi Kotkaniemi Mike Reilly --- PP1: Aho, Ehlers (Staal), Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere PP2: Blake, Hall, Jankowski, and Stankoven with Miller I'm getting to the point to where I have to get away from social media.  The narrative is still in some circles that Carolina has played no one.  I just don't see how you can continue to discount what our opponents in the playoffs have done, either to make it to the playoffs or the clubs they beat to faceoff against us.  I know this is how Carolina always get's treated, but if we win tonight our record is 12-1 in the playoffs. 12-1!  Meanwhile, along the way the "talking heads" had us losing in every round.  Maybe, just maybe, Carolina's just that damn good. /rant Here's to kickin azz and taking names tonight. LET'S GO CANES!!
