Cap Question

If the Panthers are basically broke when it comes too salary Cap how do we sign draftees? Do we have to make room for the rookies or does our cap room not include draftees?

I read somewhere that the clubs have to allocate 5 million or so to sign rookies.

Each team has a rookie pool for draft picks that's built into the team's overall salary, which is top 51 Salary + Benefits + rookie cap + practice squad = total team salary, it's usually around 20-25 million more then the Salary cap is.

In other words...don't worry about the rooks.

they make some kind of exception so that your rookie class doesnt initially count against the cap

basically it's for dumbfug teams that completely mismanage their cap to the point where they wouldnt even be able to sign their own draft picks
