Vontaze Burfict Bum Rap

Im with you bud. Burfict in the 5th would be outstanding. People forget we are losing Connor. Depth at MLB is key and there is no one that will be available then that will come close to his upside.

I mean check out this. He can be a beast.

Didnt see it posted if it was, oh well. I've always supported Vontaze Burict even though most on this forum dislike him. Very good article about him.

Didn't this guy BOMB in his interviews, too? 6th round...sure.

I think we will consider better options although the potential of Burfict is CERTAINLY intriguing. By all accounts, he quit on his team, has attitude problems, is lazy, and has no drive to be great. As anyone can see in the videos, he has outstanding potential and a nose for the football but how much would you really be willing to pay this guy? Of course, someone did draft Maurice Clarett....

sounds like u are judging him based on what other people have said and not by his play. Cam was suppose to be a bust and had all kinds of issues and well, lots of people ate crow when cam lit it up. I rather judge a player on how well they play, and Burficts is a beast on the field.

Can't use the Cam was good so everyone else who has questionable marks could be good as well argument for everyone. Cam's detractors got magnified due to the fact that he was a) On a national championship team b.) One a heisman c) Went to Auburn d) Was a black QB. However though interviews and investigation most proved to baseless or outright lies.

On the other had Burict a) Performance dropped dramatically from prior season b.)Weigh increased dramatically from prior season (not in a good way) c) Gave terrible interviews d) Had a terrible combine e)Blamed everything on his coaches. Not even going to go into the penalty stuff because I like aggressive linebackers. However any argument that counters that shows a lack of discipline can't be discounted. That's a lot of damn negatives tbh.

I only watched 1 ASU game this year so I'm going to have to take your word on the beast part. Numbers don't always reflect actual performance/impact. But using Janoris Jenkins as example if you can play people will gloss over a lot of negatives and the fact that in 2010 he as probably considered a 1st/2nd round pick to possibly undrafted this year speaks volumes about his performance.

    • I think Mike Evans is a good comparison production wise. Also Bryce is particularly good with touch throws which might help his #s as well.    Steve Smith is a top 10 WR all time. That won’t be eclipsed for a long time. DJ Moore is a great #1 WR as well but Steve Smith never got the chance to play with a QB that can extend plays in his prime. He also was historically under targeted by the running offense he played in.
    • I don't think this is his peak. For one, he's not always going to exist in a passing offense happy to just hit 3k yards. Even that aside, he'll learn routes better, get stronger, and adjust more to NFL speed in a way I think you'll see him improve quite a bit. He doesn't strike me as someone content with a season like this
    • If we came out that draft with Sonny Styles and Harold Perkins Jr, I'd be EXTREMLY content. Perfect year to grab two. On this defense.... hell yes! As for Wallace....he still has some developing to do.. its a reason he was projected everywhere from the 3rd to 5th round. He's an athlete at LB.. he'll get there in time though, I hope.
