My Personal Mock Draft

This is my first post on here but I follow the site very consistently.

First Round: Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State- I think this is not only the safest pick but a pick that will greatly benefit the team. The Giants had a great defensive line and it led them to a super bowl victory. With that said improving the defensive line is my first priority. On top of that we brought him in for a visit and we don't draft people that don't come in and visit.

Second Round: Chandler Jones DE Syracuse- Once again the defensive line needs help and the guys that we have simply aren't quite good enough to be starters but will be great rotational guys. We've had Jones in on a visit so this would make perfect sense to me. Plus a good pass rush makes a mediocre secondary look better.

Fourth Round: Keenan Robinson ILB Texas- We clearly need linebacker depth and Robinson has great size and will be a great fill in just in case Davis gets injured again.

Fifth Round: Jamell Fleming CB Oklahoma- Fleming has good size 5-11 206 and good speed 4.43. I know we have a need at CB but I have faith in Hogan to be a good #2 corner, so that is why I am addressing it a little later in the draft. Plus with a better defensive line our secondary should look that much better.

Sixth Round: Senio Kelemete G/T Washington- We need depth at offensive line and Kelemete can play both guard and tackle. His versatility should prove valuable and would fill a large need.

Sixth Round: Brian Anger P California- With our lottery pick I think we fill a need and get the best punter in the draft a true win win situation.

Seventh Round: Chandler Harrison QB Northern Illinois- This pick should be used to obtain a backup for Cam who can run a similar style offense which would give us a great reason to get rid of Jimmy Clausen.

I didn't address the need at receiver because I don't believe we have a true need at receiver. David Gettis and Brandon Lafell will both be back and better than ever. Steve Smiths replacement can be found next year when we pick later in the first round and have less needs on defense.

I think Jones over Jenkins in the second because he is less risky and we don't need any distractions with such a young team.

Let me know what you think.

Was about to say that this mock is great except for the lack of cornerback in the first two rounds. This, though, has changed my mind. That D-Line would just be.... mouthwatering.

Great Dline makes ok DB's look great. Gives the QB less time to throw.

Nice mock, and yes improving the D-Line will only make your DBs look better. Chris Gamble or any corner in this league can only do so much against an NFL WR when the quarterback has all day to throw the ball. It really depends on how much faith our coaches and FO has in Hogan, if they believe after a full offseason to practice and a year removed from the injury he can be our #2 then there should be no reason to pull the trigger on a corner early. Captain is a good nickel(this has been widely discussed) and Butler did not look too bad last season and can be a serviceable backup plan. I think D-Line is more important than DB, not only in our specific situation but just in general. I'd like the first round choice to be Cox or Floyd if we stay at 9.

I rather grab a different DE... Perry, or Mercilus. Both are bigger, and both have had great success rushing the QB at the collegiate level.... If we wanted Jones, we could even trade down.

I don't know, there's been some talk that Jones could sneak into the bottom of the 1st round.
