you said Greg Hardy should have beaten out Brayton and Brown in his 1st year.. dance around it all you want, you know that sounds ridiculous.. lol

Who said he should play great his rookie year? Given that Brayton played awful and had no sacks and Brown was cut from the team after 2010 I said that Hardy should have worked himself into a start or two by the end of the year. I acknowledged that Brayton was going to start but by the end of the year Hardy should have established himself given that in 2010 by the end of the year we were out of it and largely playing rookies and backups for experience which is why Clausen got so much work. Obviously the fact that he was retained and the other 2 were not suggests they liked enough of what they saw to install him as the starter year 2.

You can't compare a year where there is a full offseason and training camp where he gets to work into the rotation and competes against 2 players who are not even on the team the following year, with a guy who was thrust into a starting role day one with no preparation or training camp. Then you compound that by overworking him because of a lack of depth until he breaks down and goes on IR. No the situations are not even remotely similar.

But that isn't even the point. For me it wasn't about his rookie year but that he should have played better in his second season. Given he really didn't improve like I hoped he would, I want us to bring in a DE for competition to either push him to be better which is a win or to gets some playing time to improve the rush by keeping people fresh.

But feel free to keep rehashing it over and over. Don't expect me to change my point of view though. Just like if McClain plays poorly and we don't draft a DT high in the draft expect me to be on the DT train next year. I expect big improvement from him this year.

When I take a second look I can notice him run in a circle at the :50 mark and proceed to attempt to sexually assault James Anderson. I am in sheer disbelief that anyone with an objective point of view would should this video as any sort of positive footage of McClain, any fat boy can fall on a ball

In case, McClain is 97..

Yes 97, the one who is getting stopped dead in his tracks every play. This is McClain, he falls on a ball in this vid and does absolutely nothing else, except for the previously mentioned pirouette and junk bump of James Anderson. That is all, simple and plain, I have nothing against McClain and hope he succeeds. This video on the other hand shows nothing for him and he did not show anything all year, I just cannot see what you like about him in this vid.

So you think the video shows nothing or that you don't know what to watch for in order to glean useful information out of it. Or maybe that this video format isn't a good one to show footwork, initial steps , hand technique, leverage, opposing schemes, etc...

I actually opt for the last.....

Are you guessing or being optimistic that it shows those things?

Coaches film? I have seen it a few times years ago. Not like I know what I am talking about but I have sat down with someone who does watch it and he showed me the process they go through and what they look for. Again I am not saying I would know what to look for but I do know that what you see on Youtube is not close to what teams and coaches watch to dissect plays and players. Most coaches tape dissects individual players and shows them from different angles on each play not just the whole play and where the ball is going, Although they do that as well to look at scheme and blocking assignments not to dissect individual player performances most times.

I do not think that it is realistic to use this video alone to analyze our DT performance last year. Not to mention the redskins line and QB play last year made a lot of people look good.

However, I think that with a full offseason our DT's will only improve. If we can add another player or two to the line (DT/DE) in round 1 and 2 this week then our front four should have a really strong rotation next season.
