Looks like they may push a rebrand though this offseason

I also heard a rumor that Bob Johnson called and advised Tom Benson that he should consider rebranding the Hornets into the......... TOMCATS

I wonder if they are taking into account Shinn's feelings during the rebrand.

It's Benson's team let him do what he wants....same with MJ (until he sells it)

FYI Shinn has went on record saying moving the team from Charlotte was a mistake.

He also is a born again christian now since his prostate cancer.

Shinn could of ran for mayor when he brought the team to Charlotte and probably won. It ended very poorly with him here and he should serve as an example for major business people bringing their services here of how quickly things can change. He was a helluva lot worse than Bob Johnson, but Johnson started out on the wrong foot here and was never able to recover. At least Bob was smart enough to jump ship from the titanic.

We all make mistakes and no one is perfect. Glad to hear Shinn is doing okay and if he really wanted to mend some fences here he should help with the Hornets rebrand. At least be an advocate of it.

I get what your saying, but I seriously doubt Shinn advocating for a name change could do anything but hurt the chances of it happening.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
