If Davis And Beason Miraculously Come Back Healthy

Recommended Posts

Davis will not be starting...even if his knee is finally healthy, he's blown it out three times. There is a mental toll that takes on you. You're going to play a bit scared not to damage it again. If he can still play, he'd be great depth, but I don't see him being the same player physically or mentally.

They had no problem starting him after the first 2 tears and he looked fine until he tore it again last year. I am hoping that having it done by Dr. Andrews this time will pay dividends

SLB - Anderson

MLB - Beason

WLB - TD

If Luke wants one of their starting spots, then he'll have to take it from them with superior play, or wait for an injury. Rivera would never risk losing the respect of his players by sitting TD for Luke unless Luke came out and proved he was the better option. TD will start if he's ready to play and can beat out the competition. It's not fair to the team or to TD to have him play sparingly to avoid injury. If the acl snaps, then so be it.

Not fair? Most teams would have already cut him.

I honestly don't think Beason will be starting in the first game or 2. After he tried coming back a bit too early last year the team doesnt want to see him try and go all out until he is absolutely ready. With that said I think Anderson definitely starts at Sam. Kuechly will start at Mike. Beason and Davis will rotate in at Will, but one of the other guys (Williams, Senn, or Phillips) will start and get most of the play time at first. I also think Luke will stay at Mike all season unless he struggles. This is where he has experience, so it will be an easier transition for him. Once Beason is fully healthy he will start at Will. There is so much potential for this LB core if everyone remains healthy I can't wait to see them in action.

Cutting him would be fair.

The point is, they don't owe him anything. I love TD, but they do not owe him a starting position even if he is "healthy". If they decide to limit his snaps, due to his history, it is not a case of them being unfair.

Yeah, bc top 10 draft picks often get burried on the depth chart

A healthy player who outperforms the other players on the roster at his postion is owed a starting spot. To not give the player the starting spot that he earned is unfair imo.

The only way Luke will start over TD is if he outperforms him, or TD goes down with an injury. That's my opinion.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
