Cities currently being considered are Portland, Ore.; Salt Lake City; San Antonio or Austin, Texas; Columbus or Akron, Ohio; Oklahoma City; Omaha, Neb.; Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Memphis, Tenn. .

I feel like we've been down this road before....

Except that it's not going to compete with the NFL at all. In fact, it gives us football in the offseason. Would you complain about that?

i just don't see it lasting. there's only room for one league.

it's destined for failure.

That way fans would actually be interested in the games. If for example the league was like a giant practice squad for like 4 NFL teams each that are in the region, then it would be more fun for people in that region to go to those games and see players who are actually Panthers players. If we moved lets say, Greg Smith the TE to the USFL, and he played in Raleigh, then Panthers fans could watch him in the USFL and see if we would get excited to see him actually get called up to the Panthers. Just my personal opinion though.

The only way it succeeds is if the NFL takes it under its league as a true developmental league. It would have to be like the minor leagues in Baseball or the D-League in the NBA. Otherwise it will fail.

They've actually said that's what they want it to be.
