I live in the middle of no where. My "drive" is a half mile long from the road. My house sits on 5 acres cleared, the rest is heavily wooded. It's just us (the fam) out here.

About an hour ago there was a knock at the back door. I heard it, the wife heard it, and killer heard it (he started raising hell as usual). I go to the door, peer through the blinds, and no one was there. I grab a light and a handgun then head out with the dog. Nothing. No one is around.

We sweep the perimeter of the house and everything is in order. I light up the tree line all the way around the house and don't pick up on anything. Killer doesn't either.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would be out here knocking on my door and then darting into the woods. So what in the hell was it? Anyone with similar incidents?

Me and the wife were in the living room, the dog was laying in front of us on the floor, the kids were upstairs sleeping. It was a distinct, 4 tap knock. Not like a search warrant bang bang bang, but normal sounding. Wasn't any animal. When the dog spots or hears an animal he barks. When a person knocks or is in view of him he barks but also incorporates his "voice". He was doing the latter.

There are bears around here but I don't think it could have went ghost in 30 seconds. Me or the dog would have heard it barreling through the hardwoods. It was quiet out and killer is pretty good picking up on things "lurking".

Lomez, yes. House was built in the early 1900s and people have passed here. My wife has seen some things and i had one bizzare thing i witnessed. Have thought the knocking was "them". Hitting the sack now, will update in the am if anything happens over night.

    • Smitty is a legendary footballer player but this has really damaged his reputation as a person. You don’t cheat on a woman who has been with you through everything and gave you children and especially not with another man’s wife. He doesn’t even have any remorse about it, acting like nothing happened.
    • That's a big ass center! Is there any center in the NFL that weighs 320 lbs? Also, we drafted a center last season. Not sure this guy is a center even if he took reps at the senior bowl. Looks like a guard to me unless his build is better suited to a lesser weight. In a zone scheme centers need to be able to move quickly.
    • The majority of NFL draft picks don't play all too many snaps lined up directly across from another NFL player, and I don't think many people really realize this. Unless you play a game against one of the 2-4 schools that are putting half their lineup into the NFL each season, most teams who have multiple draft picks, MIGHT only have 2-4 draft picks in any given season. Some skill positions get around 30 players drafted each year, other positions are in the teens to low 20's.  With at least a handful of them coming from non power conference schools too.  So the odds for any WR or CB to get too many games lined up directly against another future draft pick is pretty low. The better odds are that they get lined up against a future NFL player, i.e. a junior or senior WR getting lined up against a freshman or sophomore DB who will get drafted in a couple of years. Then if you take it one step further and look for players who actually play in the NFL and make a difference.   You're basically looking at players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft, so a little less than 100 players a year, spread out across all the positions and conferences (which in today's massive conferences, teams have even lower odds of player the teams with more NFL players than ever before).
