Jon Beason Responds To Alex Smith Comments

Here's a quote from a posted over on the 9er board. That is the most laughable and ill-informed post I think I have ever read on the internet...ever. Alex Smith? Same numbers as a rookie because we ran a spread offense this season? Cam was used to our offense? Always losing game, garbage time stats? We lost more games in the 4th after leading at half in more games than I remember. He's already a better QB than Smith, and it is not even an argument.

Post is damn right stupidity.

Alex Smith is just jealous that he doesnt have an OC like Chud that would allow him to throw the ball all over the field, But you look at his career TD-INT ratio, I wouldnt let him throw it either.

and we all know most of us thought the Panthers would run the ball all year and let Cam get used to the pro game. With our RB's that would have been the logical way of playing last yr. Be glad we have an OC that thinks outside the box.

I think my biggest beef with what Alex Smith said is the whole no huddle airing it out playing from behind thing. Which means he clearly didn't watch a single game, saw Cam's stats on the Sportscenter ticker, saw that we lost, and then just assumed we trailed every game. I am so glad we get to play them this year so he can see just how good Cam is.

And yes we will play them, in the NFC Championship game. Suck it Alex Smith.

...10 years from now when Beason retires. As long as Beason is here, Luke will be the OLB. Even then they may not want to switch him.

Nah, much sooner than that.

Luke's skill set suits MLB better. If Luke is what he projects to be that is.....

Projects to have better instinct, sideline to sideline and is better in coverage....and has the brains. None of that is knocking Beason either.

Luke should be the anchor of Cam's D for the years to come.

No he won't.

Willis > Beason > every other MLB.

Simple mathematics really

Not really. We give Beason a bump. Several are in his company. Lewis and Fletcher have been right with him and they are almost ready for the nursing home

No he won't.

So we drafted what is perceived best MLB prospects in years.....to not let him play MLB bc Beason happens to be on the team?

Luke will be our starting MLB in the next 3 years. One way or another most likely. Again, that is if he is what he projects to be....

If Luke is better than Beason then Beason won't keep the job. Luke will get the shot to earn the job.

    • This is about getting open and YAC....and the QB we have.  You basically are just highlighting average depth when targeted vs 2 players. .  And yeah, I often say AT is a small slow reliable TE in terms of what he does for us.   That's what he is.   I think a couple of you want to make this into a Renfrow argument.   I'm a Renfrow fan.  Renfrow does not check the box of what a BY O needs either at the slot.  Renfrow just a niche roleplayer at this level.  it's easy to look up how horrific AT is with the ball in his hands and in terms of getting open.....and it's also easy to look up what a low ceiling of an offense the steady AT diet produces w/ BY.
    • The one time he's actively tried to lose was the best we've ever done.
    • I simply acknowledge BY is the QB.  And just like we did when we drafted him.....the type O you would need to setup around him for success was always pretty simple.  But we have done virtually the opposite.  XL dropping some passes isn't why we were ranked the 32nd O and 30th passing the past 2 years.  *Ricky Prohel was brought up only in regards to role function he served on the team.  Niche/specialist.   He wasn't eating up the snaps in the O.    AT should have a similar snap %. People could MAUL Ricky Prohel and put hands all over him.   We got to the Super Bowl in part because we were mauling guys (our slot CB).   You can't do that now.  AT has a MUCH easier life and still can't get open.  Or run.    If you live in 3 WR sets, with a weak armed QB, and you choose to put someone who can't get open or run in the slot.......well, your are going to have a weak pass O.  That's by design IMO.
