Jeffri Chadiha's Top 10 Receivers

Recommended Posts

People need to give Wes Welker some love. They call him a system WR but the system was there before him and no one could produce like him. Moss couldn't produce like him.

1)They didn't play the same position (Wes is/was a security blanket).

2)All time TD's in a season (23)

To say Moss didn't produce is asinine. Moss is the biggest receiving threat Brady's had (23) of Brady's record (50), that's 46%.

You can make the stats say whatever you want. I'll point to Wes Welkers 4 100+ reception season in his 9 year career. Moss broke 100 reception twice in 13 years. You can point to Moss's TDs but if he had Gronk sucking up all the TDs his numbers would drop to. The most damning piece of evidence is Moss is no longer a Patriot. Welker is fighting for a new contract to but they won't trade him. He's to good.

Sure Welker caught a lot of short passes but he took them upfield. 13 yards a catch is pretty high for a guy that caught 122 balls.

Lol @ all the mike Wallace love.

He's so highly regarded that no team wants to offer him a contract. Dude is a burner no doubt but I'd much rather Antonio Brown.

Agree completely. I live in steeler country and they all think brown is the superior receiver. As pointed out Wallace is a great deep threat but brown does it all.

On production or talent/ability or a mix of both?

Calvin Johnson

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Roddy White

Greg Jennings

Steve Smith

Reggie Wayne

Dwayne Bowe

Hakeem Nicks

Mike Wallace

Guys that I would put in the same tier as the top 10

Stevie Johnson--close in stats and ability but knock him on some crucial drops

Brandon Lloyd--close in production

Brandon Marshall--he's a beast but isn't as much of a veritcal threat

Jordy Nelson--great, great year

You're putting Roddy "Dropped Ball" White and Wes Welker, who had one of the greatest dropped balls in Superbowl history, ahead of Smitty? Really?

Welker is a different type WR than Smitty. Regardless of his QB you gotta respect his production. Welker almost has broken Smitty's 05 YAC numbers several times. Welker owns 3 of the top 4 YAC seasons.

Welker is a top 5 WR even if he can't take in the role as a #1.

Personally, I think Welker is overrated. First, he has one of the best QB's of recent history throwing at him. And most of his catches and yards come from little slant plays that only gain around 8 yards anyways. I haven't liked him snce his hold out.The man thinks he's elite..but him and Smitty are basically the same kind of WR..only Smith can go up for a ball. I don't think Welker should be in the top 5.. 10 maybe...but definitely not top 5..

Jerry Rice had HOFers throwing to him....Marvin Harrison....tons of guys have. Can't use Brady to totally dismiss Welker.

It ain't all about the deep ball. Welker moves chains.

I didn't say it was all about the deep ball. I simply said Welker was overrated. He's not elite, nor is he worth the $ he wants. I can guarantee you he wouldn't be as productive with another QB throwing at him.

What makes someone elite?

Brady sat in 2008. He put up identical numbers in 2008 as he has with Brady....so your guarantee is already wrong. He caught 100+ balls and had a 1000 yard season with Cassel.

Welker can't play the #1 in the traditional sense.....he is an elite WR and the league hasn't figured out how to stop him in the slot regardless of QB
