Dwayne Jarrett arrived at the Saskatchewan Roughriders' training camp amid considerable fanfare, only to become a footnote.

Jarrett battled a foot injury for most of his abbreviated time in Regina - an experiment that officially, mercifully ended Thursday when Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin announced that the former USC Trojans and Carolina Panthers receiver had retired at age 25.

The news was hardly shocking, considering the tenor of previous reportage pertaining to Jarrett. He was to have arrived in Regina in time for rookie camp, which kicked off May 31, only to be delayed by flight and immigration issues.

After making four connections on Saturday, Jarrett finally landed in the Queen City in time for the CFL team's main training camp to begin at the University of Regina. He took part in Sunday's lone session, looking impressive enough, but ended up sustaining the aforementioned foot injury.

From then on, Jarrett was most conspicuous on an exercise bike. In the final analysis, there was a greater likelihood of seeing a moose in Regina than of spotting Jarrett on the practice field.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
