Blogger Blitz: Josh Norman

Pat Yas discusses Josh Normans performance so far. Says he's getting a lot of attention from the vets and they are very excited for him.

This would boost the defense and it would allow Captain Munnerlyn to move to the inside according to Pat.

Good news to hear. I hope he learns and soaks everything up to be ready to go by week one and be the #2 Corner.

Norman is hands down our 2nd best corner (all things considered)

I just hope he learns enough for the coaching staff to put im out there on week 1.

We're all pulling for Norman but for u to call him our second best corner right now is absurd.

a huge part of playing CB is jamming receivers on the line and playing the run. both of these things involve contact, which is forbidden in minicamp by the new CBA. we have reason to be excited for sure but going overboard before training camp isn't very prudent.

Gamble isn't exactly exceptional at tackling or hitting. He contains pretty well. His man to man coverage skills are rediculous. We need another cover corner, whether they play every down or not, to deal with guys like julio jones, mike williams (gamble gets vjax), and anyone drew brees wants to throw to.

i really hope that between him, hogan, butler, and even the capt our secondary is the best it's ever been and that gamble has lots of help on the rest of the field.

i'm really excited about this crop of CBs, esp. with wilks coaching them. it should be muuuuch better than we've been used to for years.

It has to be between Hogan, Butler and Mr Norman. There's no one else. I love Cap to death, but he's just a very formidable Nickleback. That's where he shines.

Norman has the skills you can't teach, Height and instinct. Hogan has that too. He also has more experience. I'm rooting for Norman but ultimately I believe hogan will win this battle in the end.

yeah, i've got no idea who wins it. i don't really care nor do i have a favorite. i just believe we'll have a much improved secondary and that the job will get done.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
