Steve Smith to Josh Norman: "This Isn't Coastal Carolina"

I don't comsider compliments and support from the vets, hyping up a player.

so we can say the same things or talk about what they are saying and it's different?

semantics.

it's all basically the same thing and the reason people are getting so excited or at least optimistic is that they are hearing from players and coaches the same things they are seeing.

not sure why anyone would take issue with that unless they are just afraid of being disappointed to the point that they will keep themselves from feeling good about the prospects of a player.

also not sure why people feel the need to encourage fans to tap the brakes or otherwise try to hamper others' excitement.

who's asking you to do that or are doing that themselves?

if anyone is, it would be kind of easy to assume that he's got a lead on that starting gig from reports at practice. who else has had more time than him or covered our #1 WR as much as him?

whether you or anyone else "anoints" him as the starter...it wouldn't be out of line to expect that he ends up being the starter sooner rather than later.

This place is manic depressive. In the Summer everything is golden, all draft picks will be starters, all young players will be All Pro and those coming back from injury are battling for comeback player of the year. In December it's time to replace everyone and hope for a new owner.

I don't want to hamper others excitement just wishing for realistic discussions about the team.

I've said that in another thread.

I'm excited about his ability, swagger, competition.

He very well could end up the starter sooner rather than later. I've said this before...just know things get a lot different come preseason, and especially regular season.

am going to enjoy watching him, and the rest of the defense rebound from last year.

whose version of realistic?

Seemed to me this whole thread had been rather tame, or realistic. Other than the few who tend to go overboard anywho.

At this point Norman is in the competition for that coveted #2CB spot. Considering who is in front of him, I would think it is realistic to think he has a shot at winning that spot. He very well could be our most athletic CB. As I always say. Why not?

Ain't nobody gonna dent my giddy with that realistic poo, or bring in that doom and gloom stuff. If you cannot get excited about the direction we are headed. You may be jaf. (Just a fan) Nothing wrong with that, but that is no reason to mess with other people's giddy.

OK, that's enough. And GOOOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha ha. NO! I am not that old. And besides, I always write those type of things down.

Somehow I got locked out. Thought I got bant for a day or two. Not sure what is going on, but I have had to open 4 accounts in the last 2 weeks. I even had to open up 2 new yahoo accounts to have emails to use. I can't pie or like, and have to right click anything to get it opened.

But hey, the only thing I've lost is 29 pie, and my 600 posts. Other than that, all is good. But thanks for asking.

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
