Five encouraging signs for the 2012 Panthers season

Recommended Posts

I don't care if it's positive or negative, Bleacher Report is the 4chan of sports writing.

this forum is the 4chan of panthers boards but it doesn't mean there aren't thoughtful, well-written articles that come from it.

This writer for BR makes a few good points, but I think is really way off when he talks about Rivera.

First of all, the author's claim that Rivera didn't make any boneheaded decisions last season is simply false. I can think of three from just the Saints* game last year that may have cost us that game.

Also...general criticism...I think it lacks professionalism to say: "I don't have the numbers in front of me, but...". Why don't you have the numbers? Is it too much to expect a professional writer to HAVE the numbers in front of them?

Finally, if you read the next article about record predictions, this fool (just having pointed out that the division is open for us because the Saints* are in a downward spiral) thinks we will finish at 6-10 and has the Saints* with a winning record. He has the Bucs finishing at .500.

All those encouraging signs and we don't get even one more win that the last season?

I feel compelled to take his claim that Cam could be MVP with a grain of salt. We would need to at least make the playoffs for that to happen.

We win only 6 games and heads will roll.

Would help if you looked at the authors of the articles

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
