I mean, look at the QB problems we had before Cam. The demise of Delhomme, the underachiever in Matt Moore, the worst QB in Panthers history with Clausen, the horrible offensive coordinator in Jeff Davidson etc. Truth be told-- Steve should have hit 10,000 yards two seasons ago. Even though Steve is still a force now, it's a matter of time until father time catches up with him. So he could end his career with respectable career stats(probably not spectacular) without any HOF consideration.

Anyone ever wonder what could have been? I appreciate Steve's loyalty in staying here the remainder of his career, even though he had people around the league telling him to leave and Chris Harris/Peppers trying to recruit him to Chicago, he still stayed here.

in order to be an underachiever, you have to have people actually think you have talent in the first place, not enter the league as a UDFA and make a compelling case to be a top 5 backup QB

Do I think he has been wasted? Of course not, he has been a bright part of this team since he took it for the distance on his first punt return in 2001. He is my favorite player and I love to watch him play. Does he think he has been wasted playing on this team?? I bet he doesn't play the woulda, coulda, shoulda, mind games. Who knows what would have happened if he went elsewhere. All I know is that his signed jersey hangs proudly in my man cave and I love that he wants to retire a Panther.

I care because the team surrounding you improves your chances of getting into the HOF due to better statistics and rings. I care because I watched my favorite player of all time have some seasons in the prime of his career wasted due to injury/shitty qb play/ flawed offensive philosophy.

What is actually dumb is making weak parodies to fuel counter points due to an overly sensitive butt hurt nature that has been more predominant on this board as the offseason drags on.
