Sad Story About DJ Campbell...

Keep Pounding

Recommended Posts

Reading stories like this makes me want to see a player on our team succeed. That is why I'm so high on Bell. Both these guys I will be puling for...

I hope DJ can be better than his 7th round title makes him out to be. I don't want him to be just another practice squad player that gets cut in a year or two.

I like this kid and this story makes me want him to make the roster even more. With Godfrey, Nakamura, Martin, Smith, Nelson and Pugh though, DJ is going to have to outplay some people and show that he has special team value to make the team, in my opinion. I'm pulling for him, but the odds aren't in his favor.

As an aside, how many safeties do you think we carry on our roster? Four? Five? Six?

Normally, I would not give DJ much of a chance. Not many 7th rounders make a team. This however, is not your normal situation. Our safety position is in flux big time. There are openings there, he just needs to take advantage of this opportunity. Can he succeed? I, am, like many others, behind him all the way. I have to believe he is working his azz off getting ready for camp. I really am looking forward to watching him at camp.

We really need to get lucky with least one DJ. Why Not this guy?

    • And, yes, I've been a slow boil, but watching continually watching shitty displays of football for weeks has me frustrated.
    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
