Rivera's Remarks: Trench Work

Recommended Posts

Those that think Armanti has already locked down a spot may want to temper their enthusiasm, no matter what RR said.

We all saw the same problem in last year's preseason games...when there was significant traffic or any kind of contact, Armanti did not make catches. We saw it, Ron saw it.

If that continues this preseason, Armanti will not be part of the 53.

Bottom line is that NONE of us have any clue whether AE will make the squad this season or not. to continue to act liek we do just makes us all look like idiots.

Stop the arguing and we will know in about 4 weeks.

You guys are missing the biggest item here. He HAS mentioned Armanti but he HAS NOT mentioned Gettis as a probable certainty. That should make people very concerned.

The fact that Gettis has not practiced yet is getting stranger and stranger. Is Gettis healthy or not? You Gettis fanboys should be very worried, not the AE fanboys.

edit: and Murphy too, RR not sold it would seem

Watch the video. He is definitely talking about the regular season.

"Armanti is coming along very well, and the nice thing for Armanti is this is his 3rd full training camp AS a wide receiver. We're starting to see what you're looking for as far as progress now. As we go further into the season, and start actually playing the games, you know, we're going to have to see some things from Armanti. We gotta see him make plays in traffic, make plays when he's getting hit. And he's done a nice job of that so far."

The meltdown is going to be epic, epic I say.

You know...you remind me of me. How is that for epic. Go look up some old Dwayne Jarrett posts and replace his name with AE.

Learn from my mistakes

How many receptions does Armanti have in his career? Gettis? Murphy? It would be interesting to compare bodies of work up to this point..

Any stat rats out there?

I'll do it, I'm bored.

AE- 0 everything as WR

Gettis in 2011 37 receptions 508 yards 3 TD's

Murphy '09-'11 90 receptions 1,371 yards 6 TD's

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
