Martin has a good shot IMO of winning his job back before the end of the season. Flat out more talent and potential at FS than his replacement.

He just needs to be more reliable...

Well, he sure better remember how to tackle if he plans on resuming his old job. I like Martin fine, but he just got abused last year.

If you guys remember back to the beginning of training camp; one of you guys was sitting next to Green's dad in the stands, next thing you know Dad is on the field chatting it up with panthers execs and steve smith.

Now maybe its just me, and no disrespect to our current secondary coach. But if D. Green starts coming to Panther practices to help his son get a position at corner, I think all of our corners might be able to learn a little something by accident. This kid has been running drills with his dad as corner since high school. (No wonder he doesn't have many receptions). He does speed work with his father. Surely this would be a much easier transition than say converting Armanti, a kid who wanted to be a qb, to a wide receiver. Unless Armanti, has hall of fame receivers in his family lineage. Jared Green may just be fighting his destiny.

Bill Belichek has turned Julian Edelman from QB to Receiver, DB, and I think he as returned some punts.

  • Returned two punts for eight yards against the Dolphins (12/24).
  • Played on offense and special teams, catching one 7-yard pass, returning three punts for 23 yards, and making three special teams tackles against the Broncos (12/18).
  • Played on defense and special teams against Washington, making three tackles and two special teams tackles. Returned two punts for a total of 18 yards (12/11).
  • Saw time in all three phases against the Colts and returned two punts for 15 yards as well as two kickoffs for 48 yards (12/4).
  • Played in all three phases of the game, making four tackles and returning two punts for 13 yards against the Eagles (11/27).
  • Earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Chiefs after returning a punt 72 yards for a touchdown. Played in al three phases of the game lining up at wide receiver as well as makng one tackle at cornerback and one special teams tackle (11/21).
  • Saw some time on offense as well as special teams, returning one punt 16 yards against the Jets (11/13). Played the last few minutes of the game at cornerback, making one tackle
  • Played on special teams and in a reserve role on offense. Returned five punts for 17 yards and one kickoff 22 yards, fumbling once against the Giants (11/6).
  • Was inactive due to injury against the Jets (10/9) and Cowboys (10/16).
  • Caught one 11-yard pass an rushed once for a one-yard loss against the Raiders. Recorded one 15-yard punt return and ran back two kicks for a total of 47 yards (10/2).
  • Saw increased playing time against the Bills with Aaron Hernandez out due to injury, making one 5-yard catch and carrying the ball twice for three yards. Returned three punts for 31 yards and three kickoffs for 63 yards, including a 29-yard return (9/25).
  • Returned two kickoffs for a total of 39 yards against the Chargers (9/18).
  • Returned five punts for 59 yards, returned two kicks for 65 yards, including a career-long 37-yard return, and caught one 9-yard pass in a reserve role against the Dolphins (9/12).

You cannot convince me that Julian Edelman, someone who is in the starting 53 for the Patriots is a better athlete, than the son of a Hall of Famer.

You guys are making waaay too much out of his blood lines. If it worked that way, a much higher percentage of NFL-er's would be sons of great players. Sure, sometimes it happens, but more often it doesn't.

Look at Cam's brother that just got cut...he has the same mother and father of one of the league's best players, but there is no indication he will be anything special.
