The Thread for Reasonable Discussion...

This thread is for the Huddle veterans who are beyond the knee jerk reactions that losses bring to the newer folks.

1-2 , going to Atlanta after a long week. Sounds to me like an opportunity to right the ship.

The Falcons do appear to be the class of the division here early in the season according to the articles. I haven't had a chance to see any of their games yet.

That said, what are the top 3 things you would like to see that would give us the best chance of pulling out an upset?

The O line has to block. Open holes for the RB's and give Cam more than 2 seconds.

Cam has to step up, pick his head up and be smart. Don't force things.

Out DBs are what they are and that isn't going to change... the D line has to put some pressure on Ryan and, oh yeah, don't let them gash us on the ground either.

1) run at least 50% of our plays from under-center pro-sets. Quick routes with three step drops, power run game with lead blocks and ISO. QUIT running the option look as our base offense.

2) Play man and blitz. We HAVE to get pressure. Dropping seven or eight into zone coverage with two deep, including nakamura 40 yards off the line of scrimmage, is fuging ludicrous and it's killing us. We are running zone on goal line looks for christ's sake.

3)Make some "at the line" adjustments. Both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. We are not playing act and react on either side. We are just lining up and hoping for the best, regardless of what we are seeing on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage. fuging audible a hot route, Jesus.

That hasn't happened in the 19 games Rivera has been here. Be realistic please.

I don't see any way possible we don't do this. The Giants picked apart our zone with ease. If we come out in the same zone coverage in a dome... ugh.

I was tending bar and watching the game. I wanted to start hitting my patrons every time I saw that no name scrub WR sit down in an open hole in the zone just to catch a wide open 25 yard pass.

We have GOT to tackle. For 3 weeks straight Ive watched running backs carry 2 or more of our guys for significant yardage after initial contact. For 3 weeks straight Ive watched guys in the open field shed the first Panther to make contact.

If we cant stop giving up all of this yardage after contact its not going to matter what else we fix.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
