Bright spots from the Atlanta game

Our play call is a liability in my opinion. Calling a pass play that is meant to pick up 15-20 yards on plays like 3rd and 2 when we have one of the best running games in the league is just dumb in my opinion. Why not give it to Stew and let him earn that extension? We all know Stew is a lock for at least 2 yards most of the time..And if they absolutely just aren't feeling the run there...a short, SAFE pass to Olsen or Smith is a smarter call rather than the heaves I see almost week in and week out. And don't even get me started with the big Matt Ryan throw at the end of the game on their one yard line...... And I also hate the fact that Chud likes to run out of the shotgun as much as he does. I understand the option will work in this offense..but if Cam Newton is not tucking it for around 5-15 yds.(once or twice a game so far)..usually, D-Will is going straight up the middle for absolutely no gain. J-Stew would be our best option for the play..But I just think they should run out of the I-Formation, or have Cam under the center more. I know Chud likes to display his wizardry, but we have the ability and players to beat teams the good ol fashion way. His offense probably confuses the poo out of the younger players, which has probably messed up their development a little bit.

I also wish they'd put Keek in the middle..his natural position. Jon can play outside just as good as he can the middle..(Which doesn't look as good as before his injury, sadly)..and have Thomas rotate with Jon..which works well since they are both coming off season ending injuries..

Naka is not athletic and he's slow. The only thing I've seen him do good is that interception..and the judo throw he did on someone in the Saints game.

If we didn't have Charles Johnson to anchor up half the sacks Sunday, you all wouldn't think we looked as good as we did defensively ...Michael still burnt us and we made Matty's self esteem so high at the end of the game, he was screaming at our players like they were his bitches. I think it comes down to our Staff. This team needs a spine...some structure... And it seems Coach Ron Rivera can't or just hasn't gotten a hold of this team like he should. We need a leader....and he either needs to be that...or we need to find one. You can't have a young team the way we do without a greaybeard of a leader coach that's going to push our talent down the right path.

Solid. I agree

sorry...had to break it up a bit to read.

i agree with a lot of that but cam playing under center more and out of the shotgun a lot less...just isn't going to happen. the league is moving more tot eh shotgun. it isn't just here. now i do think we should be running out of the pistol more because it gives most of the benefit of being in the shotgun but still helps out the run game by the QB being a bit in front.

re: the team needing a spine, i think it found a lot more of one in that game against the falcons than it has all year. i think that cam needs to be the emotional leader of this team, though, much like guys like ray lewis is in baltimore. cam has that power and that potential. he just needs to do a better job about firing other guys up rather than him requiring it so much himself. i think that comes with time, though.

Lets not act like ATL didn't have miscues either.

like calling 4 TO's in the second half and getting rewarded for them?

like getting man handled by our d-line?

all teams have miscues throughout each game, we just had more. that game was basically a gift from the panthers and refs to the falcons, so merry christmas.

btw...just noticing greg olsen's stats. 20 catches for 256 yards. only 1 TD, but his catches makes him 5th out of TEs in the league so far and his yardage puts him at 4th. olsen's on pace for 80 receptions and 1000 yards. i'd be surprised if that will be continued, but it's still good to see him living up to that potential. still like to see him get in the endzone more.

When you've got 3 starting RBs and a mack truck for a QB, red zone targets are gonna be few and far between for TEs

    • They weren't well thought out. We needed one, not both. 2 top center/guard candidates were going to be available in the 2nd. We would have been fine with JPJ or Frazier. Drafting either over XL or Brooks would have made perfect sense. Hell, drafting both would have made sense even if we had signed Lewis or Hunt. Instead we drafted a 1 year wonder project WR and a luxury RB that we didn't need since we had Hubbard. Draft IOL, pay tackles. Plenty of 2nd round guards and centers start immediately and play very well. Those 2 picks were not good then, now, no matter how much explaining anyone tries to do. Several of called it then.
    • I have no problems with difference of opinions.  Difference of perspective.  Perspective is everything.   The statement you made was false. Period. So sorry that you don't like me calling it out.  Frankly, Frank,  I gave up on seeing anything eye to eye with you when I was a much younger man.  Nothing I said was a personal insult, so get over yourself.  As far as comparing rosters.  I just dont give a fug.  There are no 2 rosters in this league that are built the same as far talent and contracts. Every team is on their own journey.  Is our passing offense far from desired? Yes, we can agree on that part, but not on why it has struggled.  I wish we could easily just drsft all the talent we need, the the NFL doesn't,  and hasn't worked that way.  Dan Morgan did a fantastic job at bringing in talent along the line, and retaining talent along the line. We needed it also, as we used every bit of the depth we had, most of the season.  Unfortunately we were relying on a receivers room that their average age is less than my oldest son, and that is NEVER a recipe for success for the group.  The constant shuffle at online was horrible. Despite how horrible it was, our online actually performed well above expectations for what they went through.  We also need our play caller to attempt to stick to an offensive identity.   Unfortunately,  Dave C. didn't do that, for whatever reason.  Hell, the online was the highlight of our offense this season. Wished the rest of the offense performed as consistent.  He'll, wish our defense performed that consistent.  I'll give you credit, for not dropping to your expected behavior in your response.  Congratulations.  Have a goodnight.
