I'm officially in the "Look to the future" mode....

2 years is like a fuging lifetime in this league

I've seen enough from Rivera to realize we're spinning our wheels here. Between a lack of preparedness, failure to establish better tackling on the defense, and terrible management of situational football, he's not a very good head coach.

We need to start DA! Yes you read that right and here is why. DA is not a running QB, so with DA we would be forced to ditch that craptastic option play and get back to a more conventional offense which = more wins.

Rivera is done after this season. Who are some hot coaching candidates? Jay Gruden? Rob Ryan?

Yeah, I have been trying to stand behind this staff, but the entire staff needs to be let go. We have good players but we need the coaches that can get the most out of them. Having the right coaches makes all the difference. I'm baffled Hurney is still here. The guy is a moron and his master plan still hasnt come together after all these years. I'm convinced he doesn't know what the hell he is doing. He probably draws names out of a hat in the draft

It's funny how many people are down on the Panthers because of their dismal play. If you would have paid close attention to the team last year, you would have known that we were not a very good team then. We were the product of no training camp, new coach, new coordinators and a new franchise QB. No one knew who we were or what to expect. This year teams have had a chance to look at plenty of film, thus, in the words of former Cardinals coach Dennis Green; we are exactly who they thought we were, and that's not a very good football team. So, in my opinion, we are about where we should be. Year 2 of a 4 year project...Go Panthers!!!!

If you call a team with no cap room, and the kind of players we have on the team a project you're crazy. We have our vets and we have our players in place, a franchise QB, this is no project anymore just a change in coaching and it sucks. Other teams must have two year projects because very little stay with the same coaches beyond that. JR will let him play it out though, because it makes more buisness sense.

Even the tarheels will suck this year in BBall. All my teams suck this year!

If you're talking about relative to last season, sure. The cycle begins again, so of course we're not going to be a national title contender. But I don't think we'll have a repeat of 2009-2010... I see 25 wins and a Sweet 16 appearance.

Gotta love PSLs. No way for fans to show disapproval. If Marty Hurney and Rivera are still here next year I will have no investment in this team because it will be the same old joke told way too many times. Neither at this point have proven any reason they should be around next year.

    • It's not impossible to go from worst to first.  We kept Evero because anyone in there right mind knew our defense was destroyed by injuries, not the scheme.  Evero has been given a plethora of talent between free agency and the draft, not to mention getting DB back. I fully expect our defense to be very good.  I have no reason to think Jones would say something like that unless he truly felt like that.
    • We would’ve played Florida and lost in the 1st instead of the 3rd round.  Montreal would have been the 8 seed.
    • I can't get behind a purely subjective re-draft as a method of defining "top-10 QB" status. That invites bias based on vibes/hypotheticals and can ignore actual on-field performance. You and others have said that Bryce has to be a top-10 QB to justify the pick. That's a high bar, which I'm not against, but we need a clear, consistent way to measure it. When I bring up metrics that Bryce has registered in the top-10 in like BTT%, P2S ratio, catchable deep ball rate, etc... they're waved off as either irrelevant or the expected baseline performance. Meanwhile, volume stats like passing yards or win-loss records, both of which depend heavily on roster talent, health, and coaching, are treated as definitive. That's where the inconsistency kicks in. If no performance metric ever counts in his favor and the answer is always going to be "he should be doing that," then we're not evaluating him... we're just holding him to a curve he can't win against. If this is really about performance standards, then let's define them. But if it's just about confirming prior takes based on height and weight, then let's call it what is it and stop pretending that this is a football analysis discussion.
