Anyone else tired of Smitty?

I know this probably wont go over well but I am starting to get a little tired of Smitty. He acts like a 5 year old that throws temper tantrums and is off his meds. It seems like every game he is starting a fight and is always wrestling on the ground with a opposing DB. Then you have the fiasco of him calling out Cam publicly after the Giants game. I know this part isnt entirely his fault but here we are heading imto game 6 and he doesnt have a single TD yet, not one! I am actually shocked he hasnt been flagged once yet for unsportsman like conduct with all the fights he starts. He might be a proven vet and I can accept him being just a little scrappy but lately it seems like he cares more about starting a fight.

I think the offense we run hurts everyone's production. The read option has sucked the life force out of our offense.

F you Chud and your bs gimmick trickery playbook

Exactly. As to Smitty, he's like one of those birds you send into the mine to see if there is a buildup of dangerous gasses. When Smitty plays like he has the last few weeks, it is just like the bird passing out...an indicator of deeper problems more than an indictment of Smitty (or the bird for that matter).

The offense has no confidence in what they are being asked to do.

The Return of Bad Steve Smith? After a renaissance season filled with big stats and good vibes from Newton’s arrival, Steve Smith (-2.2) somewhat distanced himself from the old stories of a malcontent receiver who punched teammates at practice and wanted a trade out of town. However, his performance the last few weeks makes us wonder if Bad Steve Smith is once again starting to rear his ugly head. Whether it be frustration over his own performance or the team’s record, Smith once again seemed more interested in getting into wrestling matches with cornerbacks than catching the targets sent his way. Richard Shermanand Brandon Brownerperhaps saw how Smith responded to the physical style of Corey Webster and Dunta Robinson in weeks prior, and effectively goaded him into foolish mistakes. With 1:46 left in the first half, Sherman jabbed Smith at the line, and the receiver responded by charging into him while a nearby pass fell incomplete. At the 8:08 mark of the third quarter, Smith simply grabbed Sherman at the line and wrestled him to the ground, incurring a holding penalty. All these extracurricular activities could explain Smith’s two drops and four catches on 13 targets. With his -2.2 penalty grade on the season, teams know that they can easily instigate Smith into immature mistakes. You’d think a 12-year veteran would have learned better by now.

He's been terrible.

    • Why are most NFL refs senior citizens lol
    • I can't speak to the sample size on the double ACL tears, I could look into it but I am unsure about the quality of data I am able to find. Anecdotally, I don't think that is common for sure.  Well one giant red flag for Dobbins is that of the 3-5 serious injuries he has had in his NFL career, 100% of them have been the same leg. That's not good and it doesn't bode well for his longevity at all. As I have said several hundred times in this forum(in this case it will be in regards to Thomas Davis), outliers are memorable for a reason....because they are outliers. You don't base your decision making on outliers. That's.....stupid. I am also not high on Etienne but he does play special teams and Brooks does not. Currently, I couldn't blame anyone in the FO for choosing a 3rd string RB that can play special teams and has actually played more than 23 career snaps in the NFL in 2+ seasons.  I am not advocating for cutting Brooks but I don't think it's a player I would consider for anything other than a 3rd string role(and likely competing for it, at that) if I am building a roster for 2026. It's not like they are going to get to see him at 100% in 2026.
    • I'm not going to argue against black helmets, but love our silver helmets. No one has anything similar. If you took all the logos off all 32 team's helmets, you could pick out our helmet easy.
